Bait-and-Switch Pricing + Negligent Service + Forced Upsell — Avoid I received an A1 Garage Door Service mailer advertising a tune-up for $29. When the technician arrived, he upsold me to a $129 package that included roller replacement. I agreed. After replacing the rollers, technician skipped mandatory counterbalance tension adjustment and system alignment — standard required steps after any roller replacement. When I specifically asked if these steps were necessary, he told me they were not required. This is factually incorrect and contradicts industry practice. He then completed A1's own 29-Point Safety Inspection, certifying my torsion springs as PASS. Within 15 minutes of him leaving, the springs failed and the door became completely non-operational. He returned, claimed it was "purely coincidental," and charged me $374.15 (After discount from 504)to replace the same springs he had just certified as passing. I had no choice but to pay — my home was unsecured with no alternative available. I wrote "I Refuse" on the invoice to document my objection. A1's own 29-Point Inspection report certifying the springs as passing — minutes before they failed — directly contradicts the technician's claim that the failure was coincidental. If you receive an A1 mailer advertising a low-price tune-up, be aware of what happened to me. Get all pricing confirmed in writing before any work begins, and get a second opinion before agreeing to any repairs suggested during the visit.

Nestor was great, super friendly and knowledgeable. He showed me how to take care if the garage door to keep it running smoothly to avoid future problems. He even helped me unload my truck because he is just a nice guy. I was very pleased with Nestor and A1 service. I will definitely be calling him back when I need service or anything that has to do with my garage door!!

Decent company I guess. The guy that came out today was nice, friendly and knowledgable. Little bit of a liar though. When I came out to check on him in the garage I noticed that the foam tubing that I had applied to the bottom of my garage door to keep mice out, had been removed. I asked why it was off and he said, "Oh, it just fell off and I couldn't put it back on." It had been stuck to the bottom of the garage for at least a year or 2 now with the door opening and closing multiple times every day without falling off so I doubt it just fell off at the same time he was working on my garage door coincidentally. Then, when I asked if he had sprayed something on the rubber stripping on the bottom of the door in the same spot because it was obvious that something had been sprayed on it, he said , "no." What he meant was, "I was spraying in that area and may have inadvertenly sprayed some of that rubber." Which is fine but he could've just admitted it. He aslo said in his 29 point inspection report that a lot of my components failed just because they're old but also admitted to me verbally that they were fine (like the eye stay lights or whatever they're called). So, no disrespect to the tech but this company just wants to make up problems for you to pay for, he was just doing his job. If anything, the problems you migbt have are the ones they created as in my case a few years ago with them. I'm not sure why I trusted them again but it was hard to pass up a $50 tune-up so I gave in. So, moral of the story is......if this company calls you in the middle of the afternoon on a Friday and asks you if you want a $50 tune up (which they said was $45 over the phone) the next day because they happen to be in the area (which they weren't because he had to drive 45 min. to get here) just tell them your garage door works fine. Hopefully mine still will works fine, who knows what he did to it out there while he was out there for about an hr. "tuning up". The reason I still give 3 stars is because I'm sure all the other garage door companies are similar, these guys seem a little too "thorough" though, thorough to a fault. Plus he sat in my front yard for about an hour in a half in his truck doing who knows what. Probably trying to explain to his boss why he wasn't able to juice me for expensive repairs I didn't need.

Nestor was very efficient and told me everything he was going to check and then showed me the results. He was also honest about whether something should be replaced or that it was still in good shape. Very personable. My garage door is very quiet now
