I got screwed! After selling my home in Utah, I decided to look into a new/move-in-ready home in the Las Vegas Area. I saw that the Cadence Master Planned Community was a fast growing development and wanted to make a good investment for my future. I put in an offer on a Woodside Homes Piermont home after I had gone to all of the other Cadence builders and just didn't get that "vibe". I did NOT wire my earnest money until after I had contacted one of Woodside's "Preferred Lenders", run my application, and received a pre-qualification with a breakdown of out of pocket costs. Once I was pre-qualified, I wired $10,000 earnest money to Woodside Homes. With constant communication to both the builder and the lender, I was told at the final hour that I would need to come up with $25,000 more than anticipated in order to close. Where am I supposed to come up with $25K?!?! They kept telling me, "No problem, just get a cosigner." Just get a cosigner??? I am not sure where you come from, but that is not something I have readily available to me. All of my belongings were on a U-Haul truck ready to go to Henderson, NV. Now I am homeless and Steve, my Woodside Homes agent is telling me that Woodside will NOT give me back my earnest money. I am a single mom buying a home on my own. $10,000 is a HUGE deal to me. HUGE! Come to find out from a different/respected new home lender, I really qualify for a home almost $100,000 less than the home I was supposedly "prequalified" for. I feel like I was completely taken advantage of and now I am HOMELESS. Literally homeless. I need that earnest money back in order to get into a home. Do your homework before deciding on a builder. I wish I had more time to do research and make a better decision. I was just needing a home.

Great homes, like the look of them for a reasonable price. Matt is sales was awesome, he and Michael in the front office treated us better than any other customer facing experience we've ever had. There were a few hiccups elsewhere in the process elsewhere a few times; I felt like the design center gave us a little attitude, the schedule for our build slipped a little, there were a couple of fixes that still need to be made to our home, and scheduling those fixes hasn't been easy, but these things are expected. Having said this, they crushed the schedule to get us out of our rental and into our home before Christmas - especially given the shortages, everything we wanted was installed in the home, and it looks stunning. Great value.
