Courteous and friendly service people from Shamrock were very accommodating. We have had issues with dust in our home and I asked them to please upgrade our air filter to a pleated filter and they were happy to do so.

Frequently Asked Questions About Shamrock Heating and Air Conditioning Inc
How often do I need to change my air filter?
As a general guideline, we recommend changing your air filter monthly. However, the frequency may vary depending on your location and the presence of contaminants such as dirt or pet dander. It's advisable to inspect your filter regularly and replace it when it appears dirty.
If I replace my outdoor unit, do I also need to replace my indoor unit?
In most instances, replacing both units simultaneously is advisable. Air conditioner and heat pump outdoor units are designed to work with matching indoor units. Using mismatched units can reduce efficiency and performance. Additionally, if both units were installed at the same time, the indoor unit is likely nearing the end of its lifespan as well. Replacing both units ensures a complete system warranty, potentially saving you from bearing the full cost of repairs during the warranty period.
Should I cover my unit in the fall and winter?
Covering your unit can help prevent debris accumulation, but it's important to note that operating the unit with the cover on can cause issues. If you plan to be away for an extended period and won't be using the unit, you may cover it. However, always remember to disconnect the power source before doing so.
How often should I have my unit serviced?
To ensure proper operation, we recommend having your heating and cooling units inspected and serviced annually by a professional HVAC technician. During these service visits, technicians will inspect your system, lubricate components, and address any malfunctioning parts through repair or replacement.
How do I find out if my unit is under warranty?
To determine if your unit is under warranty, locate the manufacture date on the label of your equipment's outer surface. If the unit is less than five years old, it's likely still covered by a warranty. For more specific details about your warranty coverage, we suggest contacting the manufacturer directly.
What can I do to lower my energy bills?
There are several steps you can take to reduce your energy bills: install a programmable thermostat to optimize heating and cooling when you're away; switch to energy-efficient lighting such as CFLs or LEDs; use ceiling fans instead of air conditioning when possible; unplug unused appliances to prevent standby power consumption; and ensure proper sealing of windows and doors to minimize air leaks and reduce strain on your HVAC system.
What's a good rule of thumb for changing the thermostat?
When adjusting your thermostat, consider the following: utilize programmable thermostats to set temperatures based on your daily schedule; adjust settings according to your comfort preferences and lifestyle; take into account outdoor temperature and humidity levels; and ensure your home is well-insulated to maintain consistent temperatures and improve energy efficiency.
