The work on my 100-year-old home is an homage to the preservation of the past and respect for the Borough of Metuchen. The restoration of this grand little Lady is a seamless mixture of era-correct architectural detail and contemporary remodeling. It was the brilliance of architect Lee Armstrong of NY, paired with the skill, experience, passion, and genuine care of Jeff Jensen and his excellent team at NJ Finest, LLC that drove this project to its successful completion.
I could not have found a better contractor. Jeff actually convinced me not to tear the house down, but rather to restore a very worthwhile structure—even though he knew it would present a much greater challenge.
This wasn't just a face-lift; it was a massive, fantastic recreation. NJ Finest stripped the entire house down to the beams and redid everything. The scope of their work was staggering: all new electrical wiring, brand-new plumbing (including replacing the main sewer line and the water main), new oak floors, 39 new windows, a gorgeous new kitchen, a new HVAC system, and a modern Navein tankless water heating system. They built a brilliant first-floor bedroom and laundry addition so I can comfortably live on the main floor, crafted a stunning new entryway, laid down new sidewalks and a deck, and repainted the entire stucco exterior. Most touching of all, Jeff expertly built a brand-new opening to reinstall three original, 100-year-old stained-glass windows that a previous owner had removed from the walls.
True to his word, this massive project was right on target time-wise. The original estimate was 4 to 6 months, depending on the inevitable surprises a century-old structure could present. When those unforeseen situations did arise, Jeff handled them flawlessly; every issue was discussed transparently, evaluated logically, and resolved without stress. Furthermore, his team and subcontractors were incredibly respectful, professional, and kept the job site remarkably clean throughout the entire process.
The project cost quoted by Jeff was highly competitive with the four other quotes I received. While the other contractors came with positive references, my selection was driven in part by a chance conversation I had with Jeff a year or two before I even had my thoughts together regarding remodeling or relocating. I stopped at one of his job sites to ask a few basic questions about what steps to take first. Jeff was extremely helpful, spending at least 20 minutes discussing my vision. He invested a good deal of his own time into a total stranger.
As my contractor, that dedication never wavered. He was always available to answer a question, even on weekends. He was on-site almost every day, managing the moving parts and frequently getting his own hands dirty to ensure perfection. If you are looking for a contractor with integrity, unmatched skill, and a true passion for craftsmanship, look no further than Jeff Jensen and NJ Finest. He didn't just remodel a house; he saved a home.
