In Law Plumbing has done a lot of work in my home and they have been great to work with every time. They replaced two toilet valves, replaced toilets, replaced the trim kits in the showers, installed a pressure reducing valve, and reconnected the plumbing in the kitchen after a remodel including installing a new dishwasher and disposal. Mike is great to work with, friendly and knowledgeable. Scott helped me decide what toilets to get and has provided great customer service for all our projects along the way and is very quick to respond with any questions and concerns. They are also easy to schedule with and get you in pretty quickly. Thank you Mike and Scott!! Definitely recommend In Law Plumbing!

Can I attempt to repair my toilet myself?
Some minor toilet issues, such as a loose handle or a flapper replacement, can be handled as DIY projects if you have the necessary skills and tools. However, for more complex problems, it's advisable to seek the assistance of a professional plumber.

What is hard water, and how does it affect my home?
Hard water contains minerals like calcium and magnesium, which can lead to scale buildup in pipes, appliances, and fixtures. This buildup can cause clogs, reduce water flow, and decrease the efficiency of water heaters and appliances.
How does a water softener work?
A water softener uses a process called ion exchange to remove calcium and magnesium ions from the water, replacing them with sodium ions. This results in softened water that is gentler on your skin, clothes, and appliances.
What are the benefits of installing a water softener?
- Installing a water softener can provide numerous benefits, including:
- Silky-soft, healthier skin
- Brighter and softer clothes
- Elimination of water spots on shower stalls and glass surfaces
- Shiny and manageable hair
- Savings on soap and detergent
- Spot-free dishes with less soap usage
- Reduction in scale buildup in pipes and appliances
- Extended lifespan of water heaters, dishwashers, faucets, and pipes
How do I know if I need a water softener?
Signs of hard water include soap scum buildup, mineral deposits on faucets and fixtures, dry or itchy skin after showering, dull and stiff laundry, and reduced water flow in appliances. If you're experiencing any of these issues, a water softener may be beneficial for your home.
Will a water softener remove all minerals from my water?
While a water softener primarily targets calcium and magnesium ions, it may not remove all minerals from the water. However, it will significantly reduce the hardness of the water, leading to noticeable improvements in water quality.
How often do I need to maintain my water softener?
Regular maintenance is essential to ensure optimal performance of your water softener. This includes refilling the salt reservoir, cleaning the brine tank, and periodically checking for leaks or malfunctions. Our team can provide guidance on proper maintenance procedures.

While some homeowners may choose to install a water softener themselves, professional installation is recommended to ensure proper setup and functionality. Our experienced plumbers can assess your home's plumbing system and install the water softener efficiently and correctly.
How long does a water softener last?
With proper maintenance and care, a water softener can last 10 to 15 years or more. Regular servicing and replacement of components as needed can help prolong the lifespan of your water softener.
Is softened water safe to drink?
Softened water is safe for most household uses, including bathing, cleaning, and laundry. However, some people may prefer to have a separate drinking water system or use a bypass valve to bypass the water softener for drinking water.

Scheduling an appointment with us is easy! Simply contact our team by phone or through our website to request a consultation. We'll assess your home's water quality, discuss your needs and preferences, and recommend the best water softener solution for you.
What is sewer mainline cleaning?

How often should I have my sewer mainline cleaned?
The frequency of sewer mainline cleaning depends on several factors, including the age of your plumbing system and your usage patterns. Generally, it's recommended to schedule professional sewer mainline cleaning every 18 to 24 months as preventive maintenance.
What are the signs that my sewer mainline needs cleaning?
Common signs include slow drainage, gurgling noises in drains, frequent toilet backups, foul odors, and water backing up into lower-level fixtures. If you notice any of these issues, it's advisable to have your sewer mainline inspected and cleaned.
Is it safe to use chemical drain cleaners for sewer mainline issues?
Chemical drain cleaners are not recommended for sewer mainline issues. They may not effectively reach the blockage and can cause damage to your pipes. Professional sewer mainline cleaning using specialized equipment is the safest and most effective solution.
What methods do you use for sewer mainline cleaning?
We utilize advanced methods such as hydro-jetting and sewer camera inspections for sewer mainline cleaning. Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to clear obstructions and clean the inside of the pipes effectively. Sewer camera inspections help us identify the exact location and nature of the problem in your sewer mainline.
How does hydro-jetting work, and is it safe for my sewer mainline?
Hydro-jetting is a safe and highly effective method for cleaning sewer mainlines. It involves using pressurized water to remove debris, tree roots, and buildup from the pipes' inner walls. The process is safe for most types of sewer mainline pipes and helps restore their functionality.

What should I avoid putting in my Garbage Disposal?
While garbage disposals are convenient, not all items should be disposed of in them. Avoid putting fibrous or starchy foods, grease, oil, bones, eggshells, coffee grounds, and non-food items down the disposal. These can cause clogs, damage the blades, or lead to system malfunctions.
