  Mark D. did a great job with our scheduled maintenance. He sent several pictures of his findings, and went over a few additional things our system could use to perform better. He was very personable and took the time to answer any questions we had. Hopefully Mark does our scheduled maintenance going forward.

  Want to give kudos to Howie at Airmax. We had a severe thunderstorm Friday that knocked out our AC. Howie was the on-call tech. I called after hours and he promptly answered. He scheduled an early morning service call and he arrived early. Howie quickly diagnosed the problem and then methodically set about rebooting the system. Within 30 minutes he had our AC up and running. Not only do I use Airmax personally, I recommend them to my clients and Howie is one of the techs that make that recommendation easy.

  Over the course of several days we had two mechanical failures in our AC system addressed by three service technicians: Ryan, Isaac and Mark. All three were technically strong and very personable. While we are not happy with the Trane hardware (only a few years old), we are delighted by the responsiveness and expertise of the Airmax team.

He took the time to explain what he was doing, answered my questions clearly, and made sure everything was running properly before he left.   Airmax Heating & Cooling—Anyone Else Having Issues? We've been pretty disappointed in Airmax in the short 18 months since they installed our two units. Our builder chose Airmax as the HVAC contractor, so we didn't have much choice in using them. Since finishing our home, we've dealt with the following: 1. Ductwork installed backwards—the system had to be re-routed. During that fix, the technicians discovered they also forgot to install a filter system on the air handler unit in the attic. Then, while installing all of that, they destroyed the small light in the attic — and we had to wait a few weeks for them to come back and repair it. 2. Two failed Trane thermostats— one was replaced under the builder warranty; the other conveniently failed *after* the warranty expired, so we had to pay the installation fee (though Trane's own warranty covered the unit itself). 3. Two "wire rubs"— both units went down at different times due to the same root cause. The installer placed the bundle of low-voltage wires loosely inside the outdoor units with no securing. The bundle just vibrates around, eventually lands on adjacent metal parts, and the wire sheathing rubs off until bare wires short out the low-voltage system. One was covered under the builder warranty; the second happened after the one-year warranty expired and cost us $300 for about an hour of work. **The most frustrating part: each time, the technician just places the wire bundle back in the same unsecured position — so nothing prevents it from happening again. When I asked why they can't secure it, the response was "that's how the manufacturer instructs us." But when I checked Trane's own FAQ online, it clearly states that wires should be secured with zip ties or similar fasteners. **Has anyone else experienced these "wire rubs"? It seems like Airmax is essentially creating a recurring failure by refusing to properly secure the wire bundle inside the units — and profiting from the repeat service calls once you're out of warranty.
