I came home on Saturday evening, July 4th and my house was 84 degrees. I called Michael & Sons and had a confirmed appointment within 30 minutes. Carlo called shortly after and asked what the problem was. He then told me to turn off the air conditioner but leave the fan running to thaw it out and that he would be there within 30 minutes. True to his word he showed up, checked out the system and identified a damper that was sticking. He then informed me that the temperature settings I was using for my upstairs/downstairs thermostats were part of the problem. He was very thorough in his explanations and I will be requesting him if I have further troubles in the future.

I can’t say enough good things about Michael and Son. They have been our go-to for plumbing, generator installation and maintenance, HVAC maintenance, etc for years, and they do not disappoint. We’re in the middle of a heat wave in Central NC and our ac stopped working. I called Michael and Son at around 8am, they picked up immediately and we had an appointment scheduled within minutes of calling. No friction, just amazing customer service.
Marcus Tyner was the HVAC technician who came out and he was awesome. Super personable. Super easy to talk to. He had the problem solved within minutes of getting into the attic, and he was kind enough to explain what was happening along the way.
Thrilled to be a customer of Michael and Son!
Thank you guys so much!
Just wanted to say that Michael and Son earned a new customer today. Called in for a hot water issue in the morning, had Luanne on the phone take my details and was as pleasant as could be, and then had Travis come out to take a look. He headed up to the attic, clapped eyes on the water heater and noted the pilot light was out, got it going for us and then double/triple checked everything and came back down and said no worries, all is good. Absolute best experience with a plumber service out here after several tries with other companies, would highly recommend!

We had four companies give us estimates on both traditional and tankless hot water heaters. While Michael & Sons was, by far, not the least expensive, however they were the most knowledgeable, professional, and our estimator, Dez, was just a really nice dude! We counted ourselves fortunate enough that Dez ended up being our service technician to complete this install and we could not say enough GREAT things about Dez and his work! He took lots of pictures and filled us in along the way. We had an issue with the water pressure in our kitchen sink after the work was completed and Dez was certain that it was debris in the aerator, so he changed it out (free), however there was still a pressure issue there. He said that the only fix would be to get a new faucet. We did not have an issue prior to the water heater install and our faucet is a top-of-the line Kraus. Before he left he dropped us an estimate for a new faucet ($1500) and a couple of other items that we didn't ask for (like an expensive filter system). However, there was NO PRESSURE from Dez to have extra work completed. The pressure in our sink is returning to normal (slowly) - glad we didn't purchase a new one! We would have loved to have supported a local plumbing company (M&S is a giant chain - we learned later), however, the other three companies were just not as professional (during one companies estimate visit to our house - the guy just complained about his employees and didn't seem to know so much about tankless water heaters) or downright dangerous (another company told me that they don't bother pulling permits - they've "put in lots of gas tankless heaters without pulling permits" - and if we really wanted to get a permit we would be responsible for getting one. If we wanted THEM to pull a permit, it would have cost us an extra $500). M&S wasn't the cheapest - but, by far, the most transparent! It's really a matter of YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
With M&S, there was an error made on their part - they gave us three levels of estimates, with 1 being the least expensive and 3 being the most expensive. We really liked the idea of have all the extra stuff (leak alarm, free maintenance, filter system to help with sediment, extended warranty) so we called and asked for "Package #3". After Dez completed the work, I noticed that there was no leak alarm - and told him that we asked for Package #3 - and he was told that we asked for Package #1. We were okay with that (saved us about $2,000) - because Dez would have had to take the water heater apart and reschedule to install the items on the #3 package list. SO, be sure you are very clear (maybe get in writing) which estimate you are agreeing on.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews but service with Michael and Sons has been so terrible that I wish I would have been aware before signing up for their HVAC annual membership. The consistently overcharge versus all other HVAC (or electrical or plumbing) companies but as they seemed to be reliable I figured you get what you pay for. I signed up for the spring HVAC check a couple of weeks in advance and they gave the usual six hour window. In the days ahead of the check up my AC started acting up and I knew it was the fan motor. I called M&S to let them know it was not just a routine check up but also now there were issues and to give them a heads up that i would need a new fan motor so if they could order it. The guy on the phone was very dismissive and said they could not preorder the parts but that he noted that the system was having issues so the tech would know. I waited for the six hours and no one showed up. I called to see what was up and was told M&S double books their techs and that an emergency fix had been out ahead of mine. One of the selling points of the membership is that you go to the front of the queue and they knew i was having issues as well. they told me to wait he would show up. Hours later i call again, no one has showed up and the tech will not answer his phone. So they told me to just wait or maybe they will reschedule me. Buyer beware but definitely DO NOT sign up for the membership. It is a scam.
