First DIY flooring experience and cant say enough about the staff at the Raleigh Lumber Liquidators. Did a bunch of research on my own and had a ton of questions - they were beyond helpful with every single question, gave useful advice on my install (without me asking), made suggestions on products and were just overall extremely impressive to work with. Will never go anywhere else for flooring and would highly reccomend!!

"Go to Lowe's then!" Two pieces of advice to anyone considering doing business with them: get everything in writing and don’t believe anything they say that isn’t backed up in writing. I didn’t want to even consider doing business with this company after all I had read about the class action lawsuits against them, but my husband convinced me to give them a shot. After negotiating a deal that included free delivery, we paid 100% for materials and were told we had to go pick up our own quarter round in Garner because they don’t do inter-store transfers. Did that and waited to get a call about delivery. A week later, no word, we call to follow up. “oh, you need to pay for delivery for them to schedule delivery.” Um, no that was part of the negotiated deal but ok, that’s $275. Obviously a breakdown in communication. Not a deal breaker. “you have to sign the Home Improvement Agreement and pay for the full install before they’ll put you on the schedule. Don’t worry, the installation payment goes to escrow and only gets released after you sign a piece of paper that you accept the job.” a) First we heard of that – we’d never enter into an agreement where 100% payment for a service is required before the service is scheduled. A down-payment, sure, that’s fair, but full payment? No way. In no business. Ever. b) Subcontractor who would be doing the installation was not identified. Still though, let’s pay 100% with no opportunity to research the subcontractor. c) It’s 100% a lie that there is an escrow account for the installation payment. When pressed on this, was told it’s “like escrow”. Great! Where’s the written agreement for the “like escrow” account? “oh it’s in the paper you get and sign AFTER the installation”. Then was lectured that I a) “don’t understand escrow” and b) “North Carolina doesn’t have escrow.” A bunch of double-talking BS. d) READ THE HIA BEFORE SIGNING!!! – inconsistent language and references to pieces of the contract that were not provided (Installation Agreement and Installation Invoice). I guess those are the magical pieces of paper that protect our interests that are provided AFTER the installation is done. “Yeah, I’m not feeling good about this transaction. We’re cancelling the contract.” Was given attitude and snarky “we have the best installers around”. “Fantastic.” “Yes, it is fantastic. You should go to Lowe’s” (thanks, we will.) Got this attitude until an older gentleman came out from the back that I take was the boss because the attitude vanished as quickly as the existence of an escrow account. I left this experience feeling like I just dealt with a bunch of fast-talking bait-and-switch artists. Will never waste my time here again.
