I hired a concrete company (Mondragon Concrete) to come and put in a driveway at my home. I paid that company in full for materials and labor. After we paid in full we found out the guy running it had a horrible reputation for taking money and never finishing the job. It took us weeks of calls and messages to get him to come back and finish. I was honestly surprised he came back at all but he did finish my driveway. Months later I'm getting a letter from an attorney from Callahan Concrete saying they're putting a lien on my home because Mondragon Concrete didn't pay for all of the concrete...approx $3700. I feel this is horribly unfair to do to a homeowner and I have learned that they already knew the man running Mondragon Concrete had a reputation for non-payment. Why would they deliver concrete for him of they knew he was a crook? Now I'm left in a mess and being asked to pay for the concrete AGAIN. Why wouldn't they go after the person who actually contacted them and ordered the concrete? I understand NC law allows this action to be taken (which is crappy) but it tells a lot about the company to come after a homeowner and threaten to FORECLOSE on their home because they were screwed by a contractor and had no warning or knowledge of the issue. I will add that Carlos (Mondragon Concrete) was contacted when the lien letter was received and said he would "take care of this" and get it paid but of course he did not and now will not respond to messages or calls. Do not ever use Mondragon Concrete or Callahan Concrete...beware.

They were accommodating even though I was short on concrete. (That was) a big mistake on my part. I ordered some concrete to do my back patio myself. As a homeowner doing concrete for the first time, I wasn't sure how the process would work, so I ordered five yards of concrete. The whole process went smoothly, even after I came up a yard short and had to call them to deliver one more yard. They were able to deliver the yard within minutes, which helped out tremendously. If I need concrete ordered for a do-it-yourself project, I would surely order some from these guys.
