I had my upstairs A/C go out this summer and called Triangle Repair Group because they had repaired my downstairs unit last year. My previous experience was very positive—they arrived on time, provided a fair estimate, and completed the repair within the promised timeframe.
Unfortunately, this year's experience was very different. After the service call, I was quoted $1,255 to replace the blower fan motor, which I felt was an unreasonable price. Instead, my husband ordered the replacement motor for the blower fan with expedited shipping for $180 and installed it himself in less than 30 minutes.
I understand that HVAC companies need to charge for labor, overhead, and expertise, and I don't expect parts at cost. In fact, if the repair had been priced fairly, we would have gladly paid several hundred dollars for the convenience and professional installation. However, a quote of $1,255 for a repair that required a $180 part and less than 30 minutes to complete simply wasn't something we could justify.

We started out with just a maintenance plan with a rental but they have proven themselves and now we have signed them on to maintain our own home. We recently engaged TRG to inspect/repair our central A/C unit which was not cooling our home on an extremely hot day.
