Second review: I’m not sure why my first review was removed, as it reflected my personal experience. We had a very difficult experience with this company. The work itself was generally fine, but we disputed the classification of the water damage as Category 3. Our insurance and the state representative classified it as Category 2. The flooding resulted from fresh water caused by wind-driven rain and hail. We also had issues with billing. An invoice contained incorrect charges, and the amount was repeatedly presented for payment. Before the matter went to court, quantities, unit costs, and the total were changed without giving us an opportunity to pay the revised amount. We attempted to resolve the remaining balance with the company and our insurance, but the dispute ultimately went to court and took approximately a year to resolve. We ended up paying the remaining balance through installments, while the company was responsible for its own legal fees. My biggest issue was the lack of communication and willingness to work with us to resolve the billing dispute. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. In response to the company’s reply: I stand by what I wrote and have documentation supporting my account of the events, including the court records. The company stated in court that the difference between Category 2 and Category 3 pricing was approximately $40, but that information was not previously provided to us, our insurance, or the state representative. Had the pricing difference been clearly explained and documented from the beginning, this dispute may have been avoided.

A few years ago, my basement flooded with sewer water. It contaminated everything. One call, and I had a team of professionals, at my house, within 30 min. They were so compassionate, let me have my "freak out" moment, and came in like a tornado determined to get everything dried and then assessed the damage. After they completed all they had to do, they worked with my insurance company to explain why they did each step, and how it was important to the safe cleanup of my home. The process of losing half your home can be very expensive, and since I am a banker by trade, I had no idea what all was involved in both the safe mitigation and the rebuild portion of this process. I realized, at that time, I had no clue what my insurance was going to cover, and how slow they could be. After speaking with my adjuster and reading what they would pay for, I was more confused than ever. (I also was sharing a bed with a lanky child who liked to put his toes in my ribs, so I was exhausted.) Laura walked me through each line item, explained it and also jumped in to help bridge the gap with my adjuster. What I learned from Laura and the team was that they believe in what they do, and want to leave the world better than it was yesterday. They took so much pressure off of me, at a time I thought my head and heart might explode, that I was able to keep up with most of my 'normal life' while navigating the loss of half of my home. Then she gave me back my home!

When we were almost done with having our restoration done from our main bathroom flooding we had a nasty storm come in and knock at 50 foot pine tree into the yard and it took out our fence! 406 Disaster Response came in and patched up the fence so the neighbors pups could still play. They brought in their crew and got the tree cleaned up in no time so our littles could be back outside in the yard to play. When they were finishing our restoration they made sure everything was anchored for us and safe for all the kids. We had 3 different incidents occur in a short time and every time they took care of us! Highly recommend. Very professional. Very compassionate company. Wasn't disappointed at all. Will always call them when in a pickle and recommend every time.

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. Our property sustained significant water damage, and what was already a stressful situation became substantially more difficult because of our experience with 406 Disaster Response. We ultimately ended up in a lengthy dispute over the final amount billed, including charges that we believed were not covered by insurance and changes to the invoice that we did not approve. Throughout the process, communication was extremely frustrating. We were told that certain discussions could not take place directly with our insurance company because they were supposedly “illegal,” which was difficult to understand given that our other contractors were willing to communicate directly with insurance. The situation eventually resulted in legal proceedings and a payment arrangement. More recently, the office handling those payments misplaced our first payment. We provided documentation showing that the payment had been delivered, including a receipt and evidence that we had dropped it off. We were subsequently informed that the payment had been located. For a customer already dealing with a significant financial dispute, having a payment go missing and then receiving payment-related communications before the issue was resolved was incredibly frustrating. I understand that disputes happen, but I believe restoration companies should make an already difficult situation easier—not create additional stress through billing disputes, communication problems, and payment-processing issues. I strongly recommend carefully reviewing the scope of work, invoices, insurance coverage, and payment terms before moving forward. Based on our experience, I would not use this company again.
