Frank, Darryn, and the entire company are amazing! They’ve serviced my HVAC several times. All times they’ve come same day even in less than an hour, also when they didn’t originally have any availability until next day. Not only that, but they also fix it quickly. They are honest and have never tried to sell anything unnecessary and even given tips/education. I really can’t say how amazing these people are!

We had a major HVAC project at our home and Rhymes was quick to get us a quote, which was very competitive with our other quotes, and they were quick to get the work done. They were very knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions. They brought tarps and left everything clean every day they worked. Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this company. This was our second time working with Rhymes and they do great work at a very fair price. We will definitely continue to work with them in the future. A+ experience.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rhymes Heating & Cooling
Why is my AC running but not cooling my house?
This typically indicates the system is operating but cannot effectively remove heat from your home. Common causes include insufficient refrigerant levels, dirty evaporator or condenser coils, blocked airflow due to a clogged air filter, or a malfunctioning compressor. St. Louis's high humidity levels can amplify these issues, making professional diagnosis and repair necessary.
Why does my furnace blow cold air?
Cold air from your furnace may result from the thermostat fan being set to 'ON' rather than 'AUTO.' Additional causes include a contaminated flame sensor, ignition system problems, or safety shutdowns protecting the equipment. When the air fails to heat up, professional service is required to restore proper operation.
Why does my HVAC system keep turning on and off?
This condition is known as short-cycling and typically results from system overheating, a dirty air filter, thermostat malfunction, or an improperly sized unit. Short-cycling leads to higher energy costs and accelerated equipment wear, requiring prompt professional attention to prevent further damage.
Why is water leaking from my furnace or air conditioner?
Water leaks commonly occur due to blocked condensate drains, frozen evaporator coils, or damaged drain pans. St. Louis's humid climate frequently creates condensate-related problems. Without proper repair, these leaks can result in property damage or complete system failure.
Should I repair or replace my HVAC system?
When your system exceeds 10-15 years in age, requires frequent repairs, or faces repair costs approaching half the replacement value, installing a new system typically provides better long-term value. Modern equipment offers improved energy efficiency, quieter operation, and enhanced reliability-particularly beneficial for Missouri's demanding seasonal conditions.
How long does an HVAC system last in Missouri?
Air conditioning units typically operate effectively for 10-15 years, while furnaces generally last 15-20 years. Missouri's intense summers, harsh winters, and elevated humidity levels can reduce equipment lifespan without consistent professional maintenance. Properly maintained systems achieve longer service life and superior performance.
How can I lower my energy bill in St. Louis?
Begin with regular air filter replacement and consistent seasonal maintenance schedules. Additional energy-saving measures include sealing air leaks around your home, improving insulation, and installing programmable or smart thermostats. Aging HVAC systems frequently consume the most energy and benefit from replacement.
Is a high-efficiency HVAC system worth it in Missouri?
High-efficiency systems provide significant benefits for most homeowners, including superior humidity control, more consistent indoor temperatures, and reduced energy consumption during extreme weather conditions. The long-term energy savings and enhanced comfort typically justify the additional initial investment.
What is the best HVAC system for my home?
No single system suits every home's requirements. The appropriate equipment depends on your home's square footage, architectural design, insulation quality, comfort preferences, and available budget. Professional load calculations ensure proper system sizing and customization for your specific home rather than relying on estimates.
Is HVAC maintenance really worth it?
Regular maintenance provides substantial benefits by preventing unexpected equipment failures, reducing energy consumption, enhancing indoor air quality, and maximizing system lifespan. Most significant HVAC breakdowns occur when minor, preventable problems go unaddressed during routine service visits.
