Overall, I would say that we had a positive experience and our shower is great and exactly what we had hoped for. However, there were some hiccups along the way that does make me question if I would recommend Mad City Windows and Bath. If we did not have confrontation skills, we would have received the wrong shower. On the first day of our install, our installer made some decisions without asking us and cut our shower wall to frame out our existing window sill when we had ordered a window trim kit to make our window sill appropriate for our shower. He had made the decision to cut the back wall without talking to either of us. He had to come back the next day to install a new shower wall and window trim kit, extending the install time from the estimated 1 day to 1.5 days which for us was not a huge issue but worth noting. Once we had waited the 48 hours, we turned on the water and noticed a leak in the faucet where it wasn’t installed correctly. We had a technician come back to correct that the next day. So, while overall Mad City was quick to correct their mistakes, these felt like mistakes that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
I will say, the technician was kind, cleaned up after himself (even in the basement where some dust had fallen through spaces in our ceiling), put down plenty of drop cloths, and did his best to keep the construction dust confined to the bathroom where he was working. Additionally, when the issue of the window trim was brought up to him, he was extremely apologetic and immediate went to work to fix the issue.
As far as the shower itself: I thought we had ordered brushed nickel fixtures to match the rest of our bathroom but the faucet, temperature dial, and shower head were all a chrome but that’s not a huge deal. We do like the quality of the shower. The floor of the shower is very anti-slip and when it was described in the consultation, I was a bit skeptical but I am very impressed about how secure I feel without a bathmat. Overall, we do not regret our choices of using Mad City, but still are not sure if we would recommend them to others.
From the moment we booked the visit to look at replacing a bath-shower combination in an upstairs bathroom, to the sales and contract confirmation visit, to the final installation, we were so incredibly pleased with the quality of all aspects of Mad City's work. Friendly and professional, knowledgeable and easy to understand - thorough quality throughout the process - at a very, very reasonable price. Without a doubt the best work we've ever had done in our home in over 20 years.

We had a complete master shower remodel a couple of years ago, which thankfully comes with a lifetime warranty against defects. Immediately, we noticed that the installer didn't put in the rubber strip at the bottom of the glass door to prevent water from going all over our bathroom floor, which caused the first service call. Then, we noticed flaws in the glass on the door, which required a brand new door to be replaced after a second service call. Then about a year after the remodel, water began leaking into our basement from the pipes connected to our one year old shower. We had never had any trouble with leaks with the original circa 1997 shower that was replaced. We initiated a service call, and over the course of weeks, the "plumber" came out, identified the source of the leak between the dry wall of our bathroom and master bedroom, busted a huge hole in the bedroom wall to get to the leak and stop it, fixed the drywall, and another young man plastered it back up. The "grand finale" of this third service call was the "plumber" coming back to do the drywall sanding, which he did without closing the bathroom or bedroom doors, without covering ANY of our bedroom furniture or window treatments, and with only a tiny drop cloth covering about a 4' x 4' section of our bedroom carpeting. Then, the paint color he used didn't match. All this resulted in a full master bedroom carpet rip out (3 of the 4 members of my family have severe allergies, one of which is dust), new flooring and painting the entire bedroom, none of which was paid for by Mad City. Of course, today I await our third new glass door for a fourth service request. The door is literally falling off the hinge. We can't even close the door, so the shower is unusable until the third new custom sized door finally arrives and is installed. Someone came out to try to "fix" this in late July, said it required the new door, and I haven't heard a peep since regarding when the new shower door will be installed. Needless to say, I am thankful we have another shower to use while we wait...AGAIN.
Darren did an outstanding job on removing cast iron tub and installing walk in shower. Quality work, prompt and incredibly clean. We waited for years to make this happen. Should have done it sooner. So pleased. PLUS -Johnathan installed two casement windows where windows we couldn’t open existed. The careful carpentry attention to fitting and matching the trim was amazing. And now we can use these windows! Great service.
