  I called because I had a breaker that was buzzing and I wanted to have it diagnosed and replaced. I paid the $100 service fee, but the breaker was not replaced or repaired during the visit. I was never given an official quote for just replacing the breaker either. Instead, most of the appointment turned into discussions about much more expensive work, including a $750 “band-aid” option and replacing the entire panel’s breakers for over $2,000. I was also asked about financing, which made the visit feel more like a sales appointment than someone coming out to address the electrical problem I originally called about. I understand that service calls cost money, but I left feeling like I paid $100 and still had the exact same problem. I eventually had to call back myself to ask what it would cost just to replace the breaker. I was disappointed with the experience and, unfortunately, didn't feel like my original problem was the priority.

  Charged $500 for a capacitor replacement, after asking around I found out that the typical charge for this is $200. The repairman was kind and professional but it’s sad that a business would take advantage of a new homeowner who may not know that that is an absurd charge for that repair.

  I had a Generac home generator installed. After getting 3 different estimates, I called Honest Abe’s. They were the only ones who actually worked with me as far as letting me do some of the prep work to lower my cost. They saved me about $2000 from the next lowest bid. With a few minor issues with timing the instal with the gas company, they were easy to get in contact with. The electrician Eric was a huge help with getting me up and running, even over the phone when I had questions. I would recommend this company.

  I wish I could rate no stars. And the free quote is a lie. I woke up Tuesday morning and did what every living human does after 6+ hours of sleep. When I flushed, it did not go down. I made calls and did everything I could think of to clear the clog on my own. First thing I did was called my sewer company. They came out and advised everything was good from the house to the system, so the problem was inside the house. Called my usual people, but they were busy and couldnt fit me in right away and said to call around because if we wait days for them, it could be worse. The best thing my people did was tell me how much it would be before trying to schedule something. If I need a machine to clear it, it would be $275-600 depending on how long it takes. Big numbers for our struggling family, but not impossible. Checked for another plumber. The FIRST one the list is Honest Abes out of Osage Beach. I explained what I found out and needed and asked if someone could help. They said yes! I asked for a quote for the service I KNEW it needed and they could NOT provide an estimate over the phone, they said their tech would need to evaluate first. I am equipped knowing $600 is too much to charge if the job takes less than 90 minutes. I figured it had to fall between 300-600. This man came out, did his trouble shooting and came to the SAME conclusion I did with other pros on the phone. He then went to his truck to put "solutions" together. When he came back to me, he had 3 options available. The first option included clearing drain, running acid down drains, and power washing the pipes to flush out any missed debris. Price: 3,200 ... I choked on air!! I didnt even want to entertain the middle option. I asked what is JUST what I need: Clear the drain and put in new wax ring. He took me to 3rd option which is JUST those services. The estimate: $1200!!! I couldnt afford that! I wouldnt be able to pay half that, but would at least try. I had to pay the service fee $99 because they came out, but i flat out explained I knew what price to expect and that number is twice what I would pay on the expensive end. I paid 100 for them to confirm what I already knew!! I called my people back and they couldnt believe the story I just told. They fit me in and got me the very next day. How much was my bill? $275 Honest Abe, SHAME ON YOU!!! Should change the name to Abes, because honesty is NOT your strong suit!
