Based on a recommendation from a friend we reached out to the company. I would love to give them a actual review but since they constantly blow us off for a quote request I think we will look elsewhere. A company that ignores potential customers is only in it to make a quick dollar and then move on from my experience.
Owner came to the house and was extremely helpful and provided a explanation so updating the review.

We had our deck, front railings, and 3/4 of our fence replaced by constructing KC. They did a phenomenal job. It took them an impressive 3 days to get it all done. The communication was top notch and pricing was very fair. It completely changed the look of our house with the high quality materials and attention to detail. We will definitely be recommending to friends and using them again for future deck/fence needs

How long does a deck typically last in Kansas City weather?
When built correctly, a deck can last between 15 and 25 years based on the materials used and how well it's maintained. The freeze-thaw cycles common to the Midwest, combined with summer humidity, can speed up deterioration in lower-grade wood. Constructing KC uses quality materials and proper footing techniques to ensure your deck stands up to local weather conditions for years to come.
When should I repair my deck instead of replacing it?
Repairs make sense when damage is limited to surface boards or railings and the underlying framing is still structurally intact. However, if posts, joists, or supports show signs of rot or don't meet current code standards, replacement is the safer choice. Constructing KC offers straightforward recommendations after assessing your deck's structural integrity and safety.
What's the difference between freestanding and attached pergolas?
A freestanding pergola is supported by its own posts and works well for patios or yard areas away from the house. An attached pergola connects to your home's structure, offering shade directly over decks or entryways. Constructing KC builds both styles to hold up against local wind and weather conditions.
Can a screened porch be added to an existing deck?
In most cases, yes-a screened porch can be added to an existing deck as long as the foundation and framing can support the additional structure and weight. This upgrade extends your outdoor season and keeps bugs at bay. Constructing KC designs screened porches that blend naturally with your existing outdoor living space.
What causes pergolas to lean or become unstable?
Inadequate anchoring, shifting soil, and prolonged exposure to the elements can cause pergolas to lean or lose stability. Wind and the freeze-thaw cycles typical in the Kansas City region also place stress on posts. Constructing KC uses proper anchoring methods and can rebuild weakened structures to restore long-term stability.
How do I prepare my yard for deck construction?
Remove furniture, grills, planters, and other items from the work area, and make sure there's clear access for workers and materials. If necessary, mark any underground utilities. Constructing KC takes care of site preparation during tear-down and will let you know if there are any additional steps you need to take before work begins.
What's the biggest mistake homeowners make with deck repairs?
The most common mistake is waiting too long to address repairs, allowing surface issues to extend into the structural framing and turning a simple fix into a full replacement. Loose railings and soft boards can indicate more serious problems underneath. Constructing KC suggests scheduling an inspection at the first sign of damage to address issues before they escalate.
Do outdoor structures need permits in Kansas City?
Yes, permits are typically required for deck construction, pergolas, and screened porches to ensure compliance with local building codes and safety regulations. Constructing KC is well-versed in Kansas City metro permit processes and helps homeowners navigate planning and approval requirements.
How does wood fencing hold up in Midwest weather?
Wood fencing performs reliably when installed with treated posts and proper ground placement, but it does require regular staining or sealing to protect against moisture and freeze-thaw damage. Constructing KC installs wood fences with both durability and curb appeal in mind for Kansas City homeowners.
What upgrades improve safety on older decks?
Strengthening or adding railings, replacing damaged boards, and installing adequate lighting are essential safety improvements. Stairs and handrails should also meet current code requirements for height and spacing. Constructing KC evaluates older decks and suggests practical upgrades that enhance safety without necessitating a complete rebuild.
