I hate leaving a negative review because every employee and subcontractor I dealt with was kind. No one was ever rude or treated me poorly. My issues stem from a lack of organization in management and a failure to pay attention to detail. My experience: I called the office and was connected to a nice salesperson who came out within a couple of days and talked me through my options. After some discussion and a few quotes, we landed on the right option, and I paid my deposit on February 11, 2026. He said he would work on the permits and get back to me when they were ready to begin. I did not get additional quotes because I wanted to use a local company, and their reviews were so good that I thought even if I was overpaying, this would be the easy button. The salesperson and I texted a couple of times while I waited on permits. He told me “Kirkwood just takes a while,” which was fine by me and out of the fence company’s control. On March 24, a nice lady in the office contacted me and said they would start on April 8 and expected it to be a 2.5-day job. On April 8, a team of nice gentlemen showed up and started working. They said they would tear out the old fence and put up the new fence, but they did not have the gates. I asked when the gates would be done, and they said they did not know because they were subcontractors and the gates were up to the people in the shop. They worked April 8 and 9 and left with no gates. I inspected the work and found issues with how the pickets were installed in a few areas. I spoke with the assigned PM, who was nice but was never present to manage the subs, and he said they would take a look. There was no contact again until April 14. On April 14, I noticed a truck out front and went outside. The gentleman introduced himself and said he was the new PM taking over because the other one was out of pocket. He agreed with me on the poor workmanship I had noticed and pointed out another area that needed to be redone. He said he was unsure when the gates would be finished but would call when they had a plan. Bear in mind, my property had been wide open with no gates since April 8. On April 16, I received a call from the original PM saying the gates were done, but they had no one to install them until April 23. At that point I was basically at their mercy, so I agreed. They showed up on April 23 with two polite guys who worked all day and installed the gates, but they were missing hardware and did not completely finish. I called the PM, and he said he would be back later to finish. On April 27, the PM came back with some hardware, but while there, he hit the gate with his truck and damaged other hardware that would need to be replaced. He was polite, admitted his mistake, and said they would be back to fix everything. By April 29, I had not heard anything, so I called the PM to ask when they would be back to finish. He said April 30. He came on April 30, a day I was unable to be there, and kind of sort of finished, but the work is unacceptable. The gates do not latch properly, there are snapped-off screw heads, and the issue their own employee pointed out earlier has still not been addressed. They left a “we are done” notice in my mailbox and emailed me the final invoice for payment. I left out many details, but it was obvious there is a major disconnect at the leadership level. I was told there was no crew due to “out of state work” and that this is their busy season. When they took my deposit and scheduled my date, there was no mention that my project might take a back seat. Overall, despite everyone being polite, this was a horrible experience. I do not blame the workers. This feels 100% like an ownership and/or leadership issue. I am probably better off fixing the remaining problems myself. I will definitely be arguing the final invoice. The project cost was just over $25k, which may or may not be small potatoes to them, but it is something to consider before starting your project.

I am really struggling to be happy with a fence installed by Kirkwood Fencing. 48hrs after installation, the gates would not close. A gate brace had been installed backwards and the doors had warped. Kirkwood Fencing came to rebuild the gates; however, 2 weeks afterwards, the gates would not close (again). Once more, Kirkwood Fencing came to repair the gates. Unfortunately, the crew arrived without announcing themselves and left without discussing how the issue was handled. Now, less than 2 weeks later, the gates do not open unless you life the weight of the gate (or it scrapes across the pavement). Lastly, there are boards that are starting to bow. Upon closer inspection, they are missing the set of nails that are supposed to affix them to the middle 2x4. I am endlessly grateful for them repairing these issues, however, I am concerned that these gates will be a long standing issue. I don’t like the uncomfortable situation I feel like I am in (i.e., calling repeatedly for repairs). Ultimately, I just wanted a new, functional fence and feel like they missed the mark.

The sales team made it very easy, from start to finish and really enjoyed the convo. Fence is gorgeous. Installer broke pipe to our pool and had many many convos about it but never came back to repair or offer me a credit. Also had team come back to fix gate and wasn't fixed, ended up calibrating it myself so it would open. Actually overheard on recorded ring cam video them mention, "Oh yeah, this is where "withdrawing name" broke the pipe...." Overall good experience, just a few untidy things that would keep me from referring others.
