  I recently had vermiculite insulation removed from my attic and spray foam added to get my older house insulated up to current standards. The crew that Retrogreen sent out to do the work was super helpful, friendly, and informative about the process and work they were doing throughout the installation. Having an older house they ran into some unexpected issues but they worked through them and although the job took longer than I’m sure they originally anticipated they made sure to get it done and get it done correctly. Throughout it all they kept a super positive attitude and kept me engaged as the homeowner which I appreciated. I would recommend them.

  Services: Insulation replacement, sealing recessed lighting (top opened to attic) Crew showed up promptly and finished on time same-day. They made sure to explain their progress and answer any questions we had, especially about a minor and unforeseeable equipment issue that caused a slight delay. Their clean-up job was great. They were friendly and efficient with the paperwork. Already we have noticed the improvement in our home. Thank you RetroGreen & Crew!

  They did a great job, explained what they were going to do for sealing the area with foam. Then added additional insulation to get the R value. Tested for air leaks before and after by putting the house into a vacuum with a door fan. Improvement was around 30% after sealing the attic and adding insulation. Cleaned up when done, the crew was very professional. Highly recommend

  Installation went very well! The team was easy to talk to and very communicative and cleaned up well afterwards. The only reason it's not five stars is because it hasn't gotten cold yet for me to know how well the insulation works.

  I hired RetroGreen Energy for attic air sealing and insulation work. The project ultimately passed a City of Saint Paul inspection, and the inspector commented that the work appeared to be decent. However, my experience as a customer was disappointing enough that I cannot recommend the company. Communication was poor from the beginning. When the project started, I was not introduced to a clear point person and did not know who was in charge of the job. I received messages from multiple people and had difficulty getting answers about who was responsible for managing the project. At one point I considered canceling the project because I felt I was not being kept informed about what was happening in my own home. My primary concern is not the insulation itself but how concerns were handled after the installation. After the work was completed, cellulose became lodged in my HVAC condensate system and my air conditioner stopped functioning. This occurred during hot weather, and I ultimately had to contact Hero Heating & Cooling to resolve the issue. When I reached out to RetroGreen, I was told that key personnel were on vacation and unavailable. As a homeowner, that left me feeling abandoned during what I believed was an urgent situation. My interactions with the owner, Chris, were particularly disappointing. When I raised concerns, I felt they were dismissed rather than investigated. During one conversation, language was used that I found unprofessional and accusatory. Instead of rebuilding confidence, those conversations caused me to lose trust in the company. There were also smaller issues that contributed to the overall experience. My only specific request before work began was that vehicles not be parked in my driveway. This request was documented, yet a large truck was still parked there and had to be moved after I brought it up. The reason this is not a one-star review is because the project ultimately passed inspection and the insulation work itself appears to have been completed successfully. My rating reflects the customer experience, communication, project management, and how concerns were handled after the job was finished. If RetroGreen had communicated more clearly, responded more professionally to concerns, and provided better support when problems arose, my review would likely be very different.
