McLeod Cooperative Power Association

McLeod Cooperative Power is a member-owned cooperative rooted in rural Minnesota history. Our story began at a first meeting held at Silver Lake Hall on August 19, 1935, followed by official incorporation in October 1935. In 1936, our first pole was set south of Hutchinson, and by May 1937, electricity was flowing to rural homes for the first time. Nearly a century later, McLeod Coop now provides electricity to over 7,026 residents, businesses, and farms across McLeod, Renville, Sibley, Carver, Kandiyohi, Brown, and Meeker Counties, maintaining more than 2,035 miles of power lines (1,413 overhead, 622 underground) across 35+ square miles. We employ 26 full-time staff and are governed by a 9-member Board of Directors representing 46 townships, guided by the 7 Cooperative Principles, including Democratic Member Control and Concern for Community.
