Natural Stone

Homeowners, builders, and design professionals choose natural stone for its inherently unique properties. As a natural, each individual piece is distinct and has the potential for unique patterns, colors and textures. This ensures that each slab is one-of-a-kind, and makes every project something special. Custom selections can be made from any of our preferred vendors.

Granite

Granite is a very hard natural stone that is composed of feldspar, quartz, mica and other minerals. This tried-and-true selection is extremely popular for good reason: it is beautiful, durable, and works well in high-traffic areas such as kitchen countertops, bars, and bathrooms. Granite is an exceptionally hard surface, making it resistant to scratching, chipping, and other signs of daily wear. Another reason to love granite? It emerges from the ground in just about every color and pattern imaginable. That means there is a granite slab out there to match your unique taste.

Marble

Marble is a natural stone that is composed of calcite, dolomite and serpentine. Marble is synonymous with elegance and sophistication, making it an exceptional choice for the most style-conscious applications. This material can be used for any countertop application, but is most commonly found in bathrooms where it is easier to care for than more high traffic areas such as kitchens. Marble tolerates moisture extraordinarily well, which is another reason why it is such a popular choice for tub surrounds, showers, and bars.

Soapstone

Soapstone is a soft material made of talc that is often used in more rustic décor schemes. It is ideal for use as cladding, hearths, and tabletops, and is commonly found in laboratories due to its neutral, chemical resistant composition. It can also be used in kitchen or bathroom applications, but will show wear with use. Soapstone is usually maintained by treating it with mineral oil. Light scratches can be buffed gently with steel wool or sandpaper.

Travertine, Limestone, Serpentine

If you're interested in a unique choice, travertine, limestone, or serpentine might be just the ticket for a distinct, rustic look. These options are more high maintenance and not as durable as granite, but they are suitable for a number of applications, including: cladding, fireplace surrounds, tables, flooring, and select bathroom projects.

Quartzite
Quartzite

This natural stone is a metamorphic quartz material that is very dense, making it a good option for most countertop projects. Its characteristic marble-like patterns give it a very dramatic look that is the perfect showpiece for an island, fireplace surround or wall feature. Regular yearly sealing is recommended for quartzite installations.

Manmade Material

Manmade slab materials are an ideal choice for homeowners, builders, and design professionals looking for the aesthetic of natural stone combined with the convenience of low maintenance upkeep and controlled, consistent patterns. At Exquisite Stone, we offer many varieties of manmade quartz and marble materials.

Quartz Composite

Quartz composite materials offer many of the attractive features of granite, including beauty and durability. This material has many attractive features, which include stain resistance, acid resistance, scratch resistance and impact resistance. The main difference between a quartz material and a natural stone is that the quartz does not need to be sealed. Many consumers like the consistent, controlled patterns available with quartz composite: what you see is truly what you'll get. At Exquisite Stone, we offer many top brands of quartz composite, including: HanStone, CaesarStone, Daltile One Quartz, Diresco, Silestone, Radianz, DuPont Corian Quartz, Vicostone, Difiniti, Nustone, and LG Viatera.

Engineered Marble

Engineered Marble is a manmade product that is similar to Quartz, but also holds many properties that are similar to a natural marble. Instead of being manufactured using natural quartz like HanStone or Silestone, engineered marble is made using natural marble. Piedrafina is a lightweight and versatile product that is designed for use in bathrooms as wall cladding, shower surrounds, tub surrounds, and many other applications. Porcelain

Porcelain is a durable product that is heat, UV and scratch resistent, making a popular option for a variety of projects. This large format tile is a manmade product that is similar to Quartz, but also offers many different patterns and colors to fit your needs. Projects that are ideal for this product are wall cladding, shower surrounds, fireplace features, flooring, outdoor applications and countertops. A variety of thicknesses are also offered, ranging from 4mm to 30mm, making this lightweight a versatile option for your next project.

The Exquisite Stone Process

The Exquisite Stone Process

The Exquisite Stone Process is set apart from the competition by a blend of exceptional service and state-of-the-art technology. We pride ourselves on working closely with the customer through every step of the process to ensure a trouble-free experience and stunning results. Here's a closer look at our process!

Each project starts with an estimate, which is offered free of charge when preliminary drawings and dimensions are provided. Any materials, colors, or custom options can be quoted before the project begins.

Once the specifics of your project have been finalized, an appointment will be made for our qualified technician to stop by the jobsite to make a template of the project. This template is produced digitally to ensure accuracy and speed, which makes for a short appointment and amazing results. We request that sink, faucet and cooktop specifications are available on the day of template creation.

Once a template has been created, the design technician will prepare the final drawings for your approval. Any special requests will be confirmed at this time, including placement of faucet drills, design and size of areas with extra overhang, custom edgework, and any other special requests. At this point the original estimate will be finalized with updated square footage and any custom options.

A digital slab layout is prepared for every job in order to show how each piece will be positioned on the slab. For materials with high movement and variation, multiple layout options may be prepared for customer approval. These images can be easily viewed and approved electronically via email, making the process easy and unobtrusive. If preferred, an appointment can be made to work one-on-one with the technician to prepare the final layout.

After final customer approval, the project will move to fabrication where the product will be cut, polished, and prepped for installation.

This process can take anywhere from two to eight hours, depending on the scope and complexity of the project. An appropriate time window will be scheduled and confirmed after the template is complete. If Exquisite Stone is completing tear-out of any existing countertops, this process may create extra debris and dust. We recommend that customers either remove objects from drawers and cabinets or to cover items in drawers and cabinets with towels or plastic. Exquisite Stone is not liable for damage caused to paint, wallpaper and/or drywall.

Digital Process

Now that you have picked your new natural stone countertop material, Exquisite Stone is going to show you how it will look in your space.

As a digital shop, Exquisite Stone is able to quickly, efficiently and accurately process your natural stone and quartz projects. Exquisite Stone is one of a handful of fabrication facilities in the state that has forgone a more manual approach to fabrication in favor of a more digital process. One amazing benefit of this computer system is that we are able to create digital renderings of each countertop project. This means we can offer actual images that show how each countertop will look, enabling an entirely custom product that can be visually approved by each customer. Whether we are comparing granite colors, examining seam placement, or determining how each piece sits on a slab, this computer software makes the process of finalizing a countertop project very easy and transparent. Now you don’t have to wait to see what those countertops will look like! No more guesswork, no surprises when the installers arrive with your new countertop - you get to pick how it will layout and know what it will look like in your space. Isn't this great?! Call us today to get started on your project!

Countertop Care & Maintenance

Caring for your new counterops is an important step in protecting your investment.

• For all pans and dishes, use coasters and trivets to protect your counters from liquid and excessive heat. • If you spill, blot (don’t wipe, as this will spread the spill) with a paper towel immediately. Flush the area with water and a mild, non-acidic soap/cleaner and rinse thoroughly. Dry with a soft cloth. • For regular cleaning, use a neutral cleaner, stone soap, or mild dishwashing detergent with warm water, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a soft cloth. Keep in mind that an excessive concentration of cleaner or soap may leave a film or streaks – follow manufacturer instructions. • Avoid products containing lemon, vinegar, acids, scouring powders, and rust removers when cleaning your stone.

• Sealing does not make stone stain proof, but stain resistant by acting as a repellant. • Consult with your stone supplier to decide whether sealing is necessary. • If you decide to seal your stone in a food preparation area, ensure that is it non-toxic and safe to use. Your supplier will likely be able to recommend a specific type of sealer and the necessary frequency of use.

• Consult your stone supplier, installer, or a restoration specialist for stain advice or other miscellaneous problems. Here are some products by DuPont® for keeping your stone and tile looking great: • Professional KlenzAll Cleaner – grease, oil, dirt, and dry soil. Mix concentrate with warm water per bottle instructions. Apply with sponge or sprayer, rinse thoroughly with clean water, reseal area. • Professional Soap Scum Remover – spray directly on soiled areas, clean with a dry cloth or nylon brush, rinse well and wipe dry with a clean cloth. • Professional Mold & Mildew Stain Remover - spray directly on soiled areas, clean with a non-abrasive sponge or nylon brush, rinse well and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Repeat as necessary for heavily soiled areas. • Professional Stone & Tile Cleaner – routine cleaning, mix concentrate with warm water per bottle instructions. Apply with appropriate cleaning equipment depending on surface, then wipe or rinse cleaned area. • Professional BulletProof Sealer – maximum protection against oil and water-based stains. • Professional Heavy Duty Sealer – heavy duty protection against oil and water-based stains.
