  I don't think it is possible to accurately convey the level of service and quality of the craftsmanship provided by Doug and Brandon on this project. This project started out as a request for a bid on tuckpointing a few areas on my chimney and replacing a few bricks and resulted in a total rebuild. Doug refused to provide a tuckpointing estimate until he determined what was causing the problems. He investigated and determined that heat loss as a result of a cracked flue was the problem. Tuckpointing and brick replacement would have looked great for a few years but would have been a total waste of money. We fought with my insurance company for over a year and only because of Doug's persistence and expertise in navigating that entire process, were we finally able to get the claim approved. This was a complex project. It took over 6 weeks from start to finish and with the scope and complexity of the work, I am still amazed it was competed that quickly. The worksite was always well organized and clean. The final clean-up was fantastic. Since I was not on site, Doug would provide nightly text updates with pictures, as well as next day plans of the work to be completed. The quality of the work is indescribable. The pictures do not do it justice. He is a true artist and craftsman (not to mention a self-described picky SOB). The quality and appearance of the final product are both beyond what we ever imagined.

  I wish more contractors were like this team. Showed up when they said they would, fair estimate, and was very thorough explaining what needed to be done. Would definitely hire again, but I won't have to due to the quality of the work!

  We needed to have our chimney replaced from the roof up. I called 3 different contractors for bids. I didn’t expect much because it was the middle of covid and workers were scarce. 1 contractor I never heard from, 1 said it would be months to get an estimate which there was a charge for. We talked about what needed to be done and they called a couple of days later with an estimate almost 4 times higher than what I ended up paying. The 3rd contractor called me a day later, came to my house the next day, gave me a bid and said they could do the job within a few weeks. That was Upper Lakes Chimney. They were easy to work with, professional, neat and did a nice job. I would highly recommend . I forgot to mention they were also affordable.

  Upper Lakes Chimney did a fantastic job on my house. The time, experience and expertise put into the finished project was well worth the waiting in line on their list of projects. So pleased with the outcome. One of the first things I show off to my new friends. Thanks guys b

  100% satisfied. We were 2.5 hrs west of Duluth and Doug’s team stayed at the cabin for a week and a half working long hours to get the job done. It was a big job and done in spite of the first snow and cold of last fall. Every day I received email photos from Doug showing all the details of what was being done. They left everything neat as a pin afterwards. I chose Great Lakes because Doug was the most knowledgeable individual I spoke to, emailing me photos of other jobs to explain everything he was quoting and all the options.
