Dorian: The Tankless Water Heater Whisperer.
I'll keep this relatively brief because the facts speak for themselves. After 16 months of failed service visits, misdiagnoses, and a water heater so unreliable that I rigged up a camera and remote reset just to survive shower time, Hoover Plumbing's technician Dorian fixed everything in a single visit.
He identified five installation errors — left behind by a previous plumber — in under 60 seconds. Not 60 minutes. Not after running diagnostics. Sixty seconds. The man walked in and immediately knew what was wrong.
Dorian was professional, thorough, and explained everything clearly. The work was done right, the quote was fair, and the results have been perfect ever since. Zero issues. Hot water on demand. A happy household.
If you need tankless water heater work done — especially Navien — Hoover Plumbing is who you call. Ask for Dorian. You'll wish you'd found him sooner.
Cautionary review of my experience: Hoover responded quickly and sent super polite and professional technicians this morning for a possible main sewer line partial backup. I’d seen a billboard advertising $69 drain clearing, but was told it would be $89 (which I agreed to). After snaking my main basement drain for about an hour or so, I was told it could not be fully unclogged without a Power Flush/de-root service quoted at $1,572 (or $2,470 to scale and de-root), plus an offer for a $149 VIP membership.
Because ~$1,500+ is completely out of my budget, I paused, paid the $89 fee and said I’d call back after looking at options. A family member referred me to a different plumber who came out about 20 mins later, snaked the same drain for ~30 minutes, and cleared the clog for $150 (tree roots). Maybe the first visit helped, but it was concerning to be told there was no workaround, then have it resolved the same morning for $150.
On a super tight budget, $89 is a lot to spend without a resolution. Sharing as a caution: confirm the details of any advertised special before work starts (be prepared to lose $ if the work doesn't solve your problem) and strongly consider a second opinion when possible before approving add-ons quoted in the thousands.

I like to write completely honest reviews. In this case I will say things began on a less than great basis with Hoover, but it did improve later. I called them when suddenly all my drains in the house wouldn’t drain. Anything (and I mean ANYTHING) that went down the sinks, or the toilet began coming up in my bathtub. I tried going full on chemical warfare on the problem and tried every caustic, toxic substance I could find (except my ex) and nothing seemed to make a dent in it. I contacted Hoover and they got a 2-man crew out here the next day. Being bluntly honest the lead plumber of the pair seemed like a real jerk. When he saw that my bathtub was filled with liquid grossness he told me I had to bail it out for them and then he proceeded to sit outside on my front porch on his phone while I lugged very heavy Home Depot buckets full of water from the Ganges from my tub, out the front door, and down to the street to pour it out over and over and over. When it was done he finally decided to put his snake camera down the drain and in minutes he had broken the camera and that was the end of the visit basically except for wanting $300 from me when really the only person who did any work was me. I was pretty pissed off and it was going to be 5 or 6 days before another crew could come with working gear. Let me put it this way…when you can’t shower, can’t wash dishes, can’t do laundry and you have to go out to your garage to sit on and poop into a Home Depot bucket everytime you have to go and then every 2 days go dig a hole in your back yard and pour your exports into the hole and bury them, 5 or 6 days is an eternity.
When the next crew finally came they were both a billion times nicer but the end result was much the same. In this case the snake couldn’t make it past a couple of bends and now another crew was going to have to come out in about 9 days, dig up part of my yard to access to sewer line and come at the problem from the other side and the delay was due to getting permits from the city, etc. but the worst part was that this was going to cost me about $10,000. Pretty much all the money I have, but what can you do? So for all those days I continued to live like I was from the year 1390. It was miserable.
Today was finally the day they were due for the big dig and expensive or not I just wanted this over with. Once again a great crew with an awesome lead guy. They were a team of three and they were literally here for 9 hours. They managed to actually get their camera snake through and cleared what was calcium buildup in my mail drain line but they also found another similar blockage further down the sewer line but they were going to be able to clear that one too and without digging up my lawn.
Late in the day the lead guy came to me and said they were nearly done and that he was able to drop my final cost by $3,000. I was shocked. I nearly hugged and kissed him. What a happy surprise that was. They all worked their butts off all day and only left a few moments ago but every seems to be working as it should again. Goodbye HD bucket. So gross. And as it happened to be, I was in the middle of remodeling my bathroom when this whole thing began and tonight I can use my brand new toilet, sink and vanity while I admire the beautiful porcelain tile floor I installed, I can take a shower, run my dishwasher and relax for the first time in almost 3 weeks.
In the end they did a great job and that surprise break in the cost for the work was nearly miraculous. Like a said, a rocky start but a great ending. I’m a happy guy right now. Great job guys. Thank you so much.

I was lucky to have a same day appointment, though I was disappointed with the lack of effort they put in. When they initially put the snake/camera in they went up the drain pipe up to the roof instead of in the plumbing under the house. They claimed they weren't able to access it due to a possible poor flip, but when we called a different plumbing company they almost immediately turned the direction of the snake line to unclog my drains. The first associate that came out was more focused on scaring me into the possibility of a major repair so I would sign up for a membership. Minimal effort was used to assess the issue. Then once they believed they snaked it enough they only tested 2 faucets, even though we said the shower and washing machine having/ causing issues too. We tested the washing machine and as they were getting in their car I ran out to them as we watched sewage pour out of the toilet. I wish they would have stayed to make sure this didn't happen since we made them aware of the issue. They came back in but basically wished us luck after giving a quote for an expensive repair. The next company that came out spent 3x as long snaking and fixed the issue. There was no need to market a membership to someone just wanting their pipes unclogged, the fear tactics were so unnecessary. I'm disappointed that I took the bait for the $89 offer. Unfortunately, it was too good to be true. I feel like we were taken advantage of as two young women dealing with handymen.

I wish I could give more stars! I’d give the whole Milky Way if I could! I simply cannot express just how amazing Hoover Electric has been. In attempting to get a new roof installed, the inspector abruptly stopped work on the job because they uncovered electrical wiring on top of the roof. We were told that we would need to have an electrician remove said wiring in order to continue with the roof. The roofing company recommended Hoover for the job. Hoover came out within hours to assess the situation which was unique to everyone. Eric, the technician, said he would need to get some others involved to come up with a solution, so he gathered a team of experts, including Will and Donnie, to come out the next morning. In the meantime, the roofers came back with new tarps and covered my roof… with rain in the forecast. After leaving work the next day, but with some important errands to run, my son called me and said it was raining and the tarp was leaking… rain was coming in throughout the house and even running into the basement. I was hours from being able to get there so I called several individuals at the roofing company but either got no response (in their defense it was late on a Friday) or was told they couldn’t get there. I then began calling my contacts at Hoover. Eric happens to live in my area and, like a Superhero, took time out of his evening to come to my son’s rescue. The two of them went up on the roof, in the rain, and fixed the tarp! Eric is our Hero!!! He and his colleague, Chloe, came out the next day to get the electrical off the roof so that the roofers can continue working. They finished that phase of the project in one day with minimal interruption in power. They are still in the process of coming up with a permanent solution for wiring those lights that were powered by the wiring that had been on the roof but I have every confidence in their ability to do so. Everyone at Hoover has been so warm and caring. Their only purpose has been to get a roof over our heads and, not only that, but to preserve the integrity and style of my home… my childhood home, designed by my dad, that I love so much! A million thanks to Hoover Electric!!!
