  I want to thank Chad and his crew for the wonderful deck replacement they recently finished at my house. The old wooden deck was 46-year-old, with several boards replaced over the years. Early this spring, I saw Chad’s truck and trailer in my subdivision, and I copied down the phone number. I called him once I got home, and within 30 minutes he called me back and stopped by my house. He gave me a rough idea of what a new Trex deck would cost. Since he was the first one I had spoken to about a new deck, I told him I wanted to get more estimates. Chad sent me a detailed estimate, while I received 4 more estimates. One company, a large one in Michigan, indicated that they would only use their own decking material. Since I rely on Consumer Reports for my major purchases, I did not feel comfortable even having them give me an estimate. CR did not have any comments on their material. One was quite a bit lower. I did not feel comfortable with the individual’s abilities. Since I have a ground level deck, they wanted to bury the beams below grade. That was a non-starter for me. Another large company’s estimate was considerably higher than Chad’s. The person that came out was a salesperson. He gave me a very impressive sales book on their company, but they also wanted to bury the beams. Clearly their ‘overhead’ contributed to the higher cost. In the end, I went with Chad and Hartman’s Hammer. Their Facebook posts, showing the level of detail they spent on each job, convinced me that they knew what they were doing. I knew I would have a great deck when completed. Those videos are much better than any sales book that Chad could have provided. Once Chad and his team started working on my deck, there were several issues that had to be resolved. The discussions that took place were professional and helpful in reviewing the various options available. The cost impact for those issues was reasonable and fair. Chad, as the owner of the company, is a hands-on person. He worked as hard as his staff. Every day’s Facebook post of the progress on my deck reinforced the wisdom of my decision. I am grateful for having seen his truck in my subdivision early this year. I strongly recommend Hartman’s Hammer for any deck work. I also recommend visiting their website and Facebook page to gain confidence in the decision you make choosing Chad and his company. You will get a quality deck at a fair price.

  Chad and crew recently completed our deck and we couldn't be happier! -Not your average contractor- and I mean that in a good way. From first contact until completion, Chad kept us updated on when they would be here, cost and what he would be doing. He made sure to get the details right before the first nail got driven. Happily there were no surprises. Initially I didn't think a township inspection was needed or necessary since I had an existing deck, but Chad insisted it was the right thing to do and I'm glad he did. I had several estimates. Many wanted to remove the existing framework and start over. With some modificatios HH was able to reuse it almost all of it which saved time and money. I was here for the final inspection and there were no issues. The inspector commented on the quality of the job. The fit and finish of the completed deck exceeded my expectations. In recent years I've had several home improvements done including siding, roofing and a driveway. Hartmans Hammer was by far the easiest to deal with. Overall quality is excellent and the cost was very competitive. HH also remodel kitchens and bathrooms and if we do that in the future, they will be our 1st call. Six stars

  If you're looking for high quality look no further. Hartman's Hammer is the best! We have had them out for three project's already, from decks to bathrooms the work was perfectly done. Chad and Kyle are extremely knowledgeable and pay attention to detail. Their communication with you continues throughout. Friendly and helpful, they give advice, but listen to your wants and needs as well. Very professional, honest, respectful and dependable. Work was always completed in a timely manner and at a fair price. We highly recommend them, 5+ rating. Would definitely hire them again.

  Hartman's Hammer did an excellent job building my deck. Worked with me to discuss my options with no pressure. They were on schedule and on budget. They cleaned up like they were never there. They did a top notch job on our deck and we couldn't be happier! Highly recommend Hartmann's Hammer for any of your decking needs. (They even jump started my riding lawn mower for me) Great character guys, you won't be disappointed!
