I had no idea where to begin, so I drove to SRS Building Products and asked if they could recommend a trustworthy roofing contractor. They immediately recommended DJ at ACME Home Exteriors—and now I understand why. DJ connected me with Nick, who was absolutely amazing throughout the entire insurance process. Every time my insurance company sent someone to inspect the damage, Nick made time to be there. He explained everything clearly, answered my questions, and worked hard to help me receive a proper repair. My insurance company wanted to replace only the 88 shingles they considered damaged. ACME recommended a full roof replacement to restore my home to its pre-loss condition. They explained that removing and replacing individual shingles on an older roof could compromise the seals on the surrounding shingles and create future problems with leaks, exposed nail areas, condensation, and Michigan’s repeated freezing-and-thawing cycles. DJ eventually called and honestly explained that ACME could not guarantee the limited repair my insurance company wanted to approve. They were not willing to perform work they believed could leak or fail in the future simply to collect a check. That kind of honesty and integrity is extremely rare. ACME also provided me with an estimate for the full replacement, and their price was lower than estimates from other roofing companies that advertise on Facebook as having the lowest prices. They were not only honest and knowledgeable—they were also extremely competitive. Even though ACME and my insurance company could not agree on the proper scope of repairs, Nick spent a great deal of time attending inspections, answering questions, documenting the damage, and advocating for a full replacement that would restore my roof to its pre-loss condition. A company’s character isn’t only shown by the jobs it accepts—it is also shown by the work it refuses to perform when it cannot confidently stand behind it. I would absolutely recommend DJ, Nick, and ACME Home Exteriors to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, dependable, fairly priced, and honest roofing contractor.

Do we have to be out of the house when you are replacing the roof?
No, You are able to remain in the home during most any project. A customer will be warned of the noise that is expected for the duration of the project.
Can I remove ice from my roof?
A customer can attempt to remove the ice, but it is better to have someone who handles it frequently help remove the ice. Ice can fall from the roof and be very dangerous.
What are ice dams?
Ice dams are when snow melts due to heat loss and freezes again at a cold spot on the roof, usually the eave. When a dam has formed and the temperatures rise, melting the rest of the snow water will build up behind the ice dam and can potentially back up under the shingles causing leaking into the home.

We will either hand measure and/or use New technology with pictures and satellite image to find the square footage of your home and then add a waste factor depending on the structure of your roof.

Should I paint my house before siding takes place?
No, Siding does not need to be painted before siding is installed. Some types of siding is removed to expose the home's walls and start fresh for the installation of house wrap. Different types of siding can be left on, and siding will be installed over the top of it. Painting the home before will not help protect the home anymore as it will be covered with a protective barrier.

There are products to help remove those with simple spray on and wash off methods.

After any damage to your home you will need someone to temporarily fix the situation to ensure the interior of the home does not see any damage. Tarps, flashing, and exterior sealant are quick temporary fixes until the roofing materials can be replaced for a long term solution.
