  The sales process and installation of our whole house generator went very well. Don's had the best price of the three companies I had out for quotes. I recently received an error message on my app saying "low oil", I called for service and was told there would be a $150 charge to come out and look at it. I explained that the unit was installed just four month ago and I should not have to pay for a service call. I was then told there would be no charge for the call but they could not come out for about 30 days. This is concerning because it runs a weekly test and if the oil is low, will this cause damage to the engine? I picked Don's based on recommendations from friends and family but I'm concerned about the service after the sale and my 10 year warranty.

  I had a five year old Dewalt whole house generator that the engine seized up. It had oil and regular maintenance. I had taken the generator out of the garage and started it and let it idle to re lubricate and have just a maintenance run when I heard the loud clank and saw a puff of smoke come out of the idling engine. This generator had been used maybe 60 hours in the 5 years we've had it as we rarely lose electricity. Called the warranty people and they suggested we contact Don's electric. Knowledgeable person answered the phone summarized immediately that we had a kind of serious problem because the generator was seized up and said they'd have somebody come out and look at it in the very near future and we made an appointment for that date.. Terry came out and going through some basics determined that the generator had oil and yes it truly was seized up. As he was looking at the engine on the top which was very difficult to see he noticed that there was a hole in the engine case. He surmised that perhaps the engine had thrown a connecting rod or a piece of the connecting rod but obviously could not give a reason why. The generator had a 3-year warranty so this was totally out of warranty and Terry spent time with me answering questions and basically reassuring me that there was no feasible way to inexpensively repair an engine part of a generator set. I was extremely happy with Don's electric and ask them to please quote a generac permanent standalone generator to replace the portable whole house generator that was now lawn art.

  I'm writing this review as an only option to get in touch with the customer service. Maybe they will see it, and will try to respond, I don't know. They don't respond to my calls anymore. The generator which they successfully maintain (last time this February), got broken after 40 minutes of running. It was a week ago. I was contacted back and told that I'm one of the hundreds other customers with the same issue! 2 days later they offered me to fix it for extra $250, or wait indefinitely because they are busy making extra money. I don't know who is writing good reviews for this company. I guess, their marketing service or customers who didn't lose power yet. I have a suspicion that they just running some kind of scheme. I am going to keep calling them, I hope they will stop by to fix their mess someday.

  Noah did an awesome job! Noah was very informative, accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional installing our Generac Generator. Noah was determined to get the job done even when it started to lightly rain. We were so blessed, approximately twenty minutes after the installation the weather changed again, and the wind was strong and it started to rain, and we had a power outage. However, our new Generac Generator kicked in just in time. Eventually, a little while afterwards DTE power kicked back on, but we got a chance to experience in a short period of time after installation that our Generator was working. Thanks Noah and his team.

  I contacted Generac for a generator referral and Dons Electric reached out. Justin came to my house reviewed my layout and inquired about my expectations. The price quoted was very reasonable. Within 2 weeks the installation crew came out and started promptly. Within 6 hours the three person crew was finished and the house was spotless. Not one piece of dirt or garbage on the law. Very polite and professional, they worked in the background without any disruption to my day. I was told to expect to be without power for about 30 minutes while they switched wiring over, this was not an issue. Overall a wonderful experience with a professional company.
