  We just had Scaafsma Heating and Cooling come out for our fall furnace checkup. We just built so I was thinking it would be an easy checkup. He found out our blower was covered in drywall dust and found out a humidifier was never installed correctly! He did an amazing job cleaning out our blower and hooking up the water line correctly! Highly recommend this company for their thoroughness and competent employees!

  We recently had Schaafsma Heating & Cooling out to clean our air ducts and they did a fantastic job! We also had them service our furnace a few years ago and they did a great job as well. Honest and fair pricing, friendly crew. Would recommend!

  Steve came out at the end of the day and diagnosed the problem with my furnace pretty quickly. He came up with a plan to fix it. He was very communicative and friendly throughout the whole process.

  We scheduled furnace and a/c preventive maintenance. Technician was right on time and performed the service work at no charge. We were able to take advantage of a DTE/Schaafsma promo. Technician also removed a furnace dehumidifier for a very reasonable price and gave a quote on possible future work.

  I've found my experiences with Shaafsma to be hit and miss. The good: The first technician that came out to my house and inspected my original unit in my home was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, he did an excellent job. When my furnace went out in the winter, I believe it was 2 or 3 nights and they were able to get me on the schedule and we had heat (yay). Their pricing was fair for the market and the bill was presented clearly. They installed a new furnace, air conditioner, and whole house humidifier for me in January 2026. Areas for improvement: The financing company they set me up with (Service Financial) is awful. They have a lot of complaints for attempting to scam people and I personally had a ton of issues getting set up with them. I had 0 issues getting the loan or having Service Financial fund the loan... but when I tried to make payments to avoid differed interest, that was a nightmare. I had to file complaints with the CFPB (Consumer Finance Protection Bureau) and the State of Michigan Dept of Insurance & Financial Services to get Service Financial to cooperate with me. They were refusing ANY form of payment while simultaneously telling me I would pay fees and interest if I did not make payments on time. When Spring came, we tried to turn the A/C on and it did not operate. Schaafsma had to come out and fix something, I don't know what it was but it was minor. I noticed our outdoor A/C unit is very tilted (not level) a while ago, I kept forgetting to call them about it. I finally remembered to call them today (Sept 18, approximately 9 months post installation) to have them come out and level the unit and they told me that would be a $75 service fee to come out + the costs of leveling. They are claiming the unit was level when they came out in April to get the A/C working. They showed me a video that shows the outdoor A/C unit from an overhead angle that would not show the tilt that the unit is experiencing. They pulled permits for the installation but never actually had the city inspector come out so my wife and I are dealing with getting that taken care of as well. I would say for $12k, they could've put me at 4/5 stars instead of 3/5 if they would've just came out and leveled the unit. I'm assuming we aren't going to be charged by the city inspector since permits were included in the quote.
