I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this location today.
I have shopped here before and previously received excellent customer service, which is exactly why I returned. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. When I walked in, there was a sign advertising 40% off select items, but there was no explanation of which items qualified. Three employees were working, and not one acknowledged me, greeted me, or offered assistance. When I later asked whether the items I was looking at were included in the sale, I was told they were marked with purple tags. My question is: how was I supposed to know that? There was no signage explaining that purple tags indicated sale items, and no employee took the time to explain the promotion.
When I pointed out that a simple greeting and explanation would have prevented the confusion, I was met with a dismissive attitude. The situation became even more concerning when the manager came out. Rather than listening, he repeatedly interrupted me, spoke over me, and would not allow me to finish explaining my concern. I was not upset about the promotion itself. I simply wanted to explain that basic communication from the staff would have prevented the entire situation. I was willing to have a conversation—I just wanted to be acknowledged and heard.
What made this experience especially disappointing was the difference in treatment I witnessed. I was ignored when I entered the store and spoken down to when I raised a concern, while a male customer who entered after me was immediately acknowledged and assisted. As a woman shopping for tools, that difference in treatment was impossible to ignore. Women should be able to walk into a store, ask questions, and make purchases without feeling dismissed or unwelcome.
Customer service mistakes happen. Miscommunication happens. What should never happen is a manager refusing to listen to a customer and modeling that behavior for the employees working under him. Managers set the standard for their staff, and the conduct I witnessed was incredibly unprofessional.
I did contact corporate, and I appreciate that they took my concerns seriously and responded professionally. Unfortunately, because of how I was treated at this location, I will not be returning.
