  I have relied on Ideal Electric for the annual tune-up on my generator, but their customer service has become completely unacceptable.When they called to set up my appointment, I was told the technician would come on a Tuesday. I simply requested a Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday instead because I need to be home for the service. Instead of accommodating a basic scheduling request, the representative gave me an immediate attitude and snapped that she would call me back.They never called back, so I took my business to another company that actually seems to like getting business. This level of hostility, poor communication, and total lack of professionalism is entirely uncalled for when a customer asks for standard flexibility. I expect much better from a business I trust with my equipment.

  I had a wonderful experience with all the people who worked at my home and in the office. I'm looking forward to a more relaxed winter with my Generac standby generator and heat pump. Both installed by Ideal Electric. Winslow Maine has some of the best businesses to work with in Cental Maine.

  I used this company for some electrical work when I first moved to Maine. I was billed $800.00 for three outlets being added in a bedroom and one in my kitchen for a microwave. I spoke with the owner and l was told that l did not ask the amount of the service. My opinion .. it was an example of taking advantage of a female customer. I would not recommend this company.

  We paid Ideal Electric in full for the purchase and installation of a 6KW Generac off-grid generator in 2014. Since then, based on Ideal Electric’s recommendation, we’ve had them service it annually. We built our off-grid solar powered house by ourselves and appreciate like few others the necessity of keeping our energy system in peak condition. Annual generator maintenance from a professional was a service we deemed crucial. In the Fall of 2020 we noticed that the generator was leaking oil. When he came for annual servicing, the Ideal Electric technician told us that the leak wasn’t a big deal and he would attend to it the following year by replacing a gasket. The generator continued to leak oil through the year. So in the Fall of 2021 while looking at the unit, the technician took apart major components and put them back together and ripped a gasket. He said it shouldn’t be a problem and that he would replace it during the next servicing. The generator never stopped leaking oil, so the technician came back in a few weeks to replace the gasket. A few days later when we started up the generator, it made a loud cracking, breaking noise. We turned it off immediately. Without touching the unit, we could see that the flywheel had flown off and that other parts in that area were bent up and broken. A few days later the technician said it looked like a big problem and that they would have to take the whole thing apart to fix it and maybe discover that it wasn’t fixable. He also said that ours was the only off-grid model that he has worked on, that it is different than the other models, that he didn’t have a service manual for ours, and that we might want to buy a new generator, and that Generac makes bigger, more powerful, more expensive generators now. In short, we believe that the Ideal Electric technician was not trained to service the generator model that Ideal Electric sold us and whose own technician in fact broke. Rather than offer to repair or replace our generator at no cost (or discounted cost), Ideal Electric has sent us invoices for their last couple of visits.
