Mainline were out doing a neighbors house, and I walked over asking for a quote. They came over 30 minutes later and gave me an incredibly fair quote. They did amazing work, they got 800 sq ft done in about 3-4 hours. They used a thicker asphalt pour then I even asked for, as well as did more surface area, truly incredible work, and they were very professional. The work was immaculate with the edges being perfect up to the curb, not a millimeter was off. I appreciate their hard work and willingness to fit me in their schedule.

Had the work done while on vacation and they were able to finish everything even though it rained the first part of the week I was gone. They did everything just the way it was described and in a timely fashion.

We recently had our driveway widened and replaced by Mainline, and Derek and his team delivered exceptional results. The project included extending the drainage pipe in the ditch, adding soil to support the new section, and repaving the entire driveway. Although we had to obtain our own Montgomery County right‑of‑way permit, Derek coordinated closely with the inspectors to ensure everything met the required standards. The price was higher than some other estimates, but the quality of the workmanship made it well worth the investment.

We hired Derek and his team to repair and re-asphalt our driveway. His team was professional, communicative, and punctual. We had Derek redo our aprons with pavers. The paver entrance completely transformed our curb appeal—the stone work is immaculate, level, and seamlessly integrates right into the fresh asphalt. You can tell they take immense pride in their craftsmanship and don't cut corners on sub-base prep or compaction. They completed the job right on schedule, kept the site clean, and left zero mess behind. If you're looking for top-tier asphalt work or custom masonry, look no further. Highly recommended!

Frequently Asked Questions About Mainline Paving & Masonry

What is the best surface for a driveway?

The most durable driveway surfaces include asphalt, concrete, and pavers. While many paving companies specialize in a single type of surface, Mainline Paving & Masonry offers expertise in all three and more. For personalized advice on the best surface for your specific needs, we encourage you to contact one of our experts. As trusted driveway contractors in Gaithersburg, MD, we're committed to providing you with the best solution.

How thick should driveway paving be?

The thickness of driveway paving varies based on several factors. For asphalt driveways, the National Asphalt Pavement Association recommends a combination of approximately 95% stone, sand, or gravel bound with asphalt cement. Residential driveways typically require two to three inches of asphalt, with three inches necessary for driveways that will bear large trucks or heavy equipment. A proper foundation is crucial, with six to eight inches of granular base aggregate underneath the asphalt. At Mainline Paving & Masonry, we ensure that every driveway we construct has the appropriate thickness and foundation for long-lasting durability.
