  Highly recommend. Quality work and everyone was knowledgeable/skilled. We had a leak in our water line somewhere between the meter and the house running under the front yard and house foundation. This was old plumbing circa 1965. I called S M Mechanical on Saturday. They came out Sunday morning to assess and they were on site Thursday. Purcell listened to us and worked out ways to minimize impact to landscaping and interior walls. Job included excavation, external and internal plumbing and cleanup. No job goes perfectly. Five stars for Purcell Oxendine for being super responsive and "owning it." He and his crew take pride in their work with a no-nonsense get-it-done attitude. Text messaging and automatic appointment updates kept everything moving along smoothly. They kept the work site clean. Overall, a professional, respectful, and efficient team. Would absolutely use them again.

  I worked with Brett during the whole house winterization. The crews were always on time or early, professional and did a great job. I would use SM Mechanical again in the future and recommend them to friends and family.

  Funny enough- the most recent review is from my relative- who I had no idea had anything done! But she did the same thing as me! Use empower MD people! They came out and did a blower door test and inspection for $100 and provided great insights and explained everything really well. I used about 25kw a day of electric before, and after replacing my heat pump, furnace, and air sealing, I am now using 6-12kw a day!!! It’s crazy! Now, the empower md part…. I don’t care if anyone knows… the quote for it all was about 21k. To replace heat pump, gas furnace, blow in attic insulation, seal rim joists in basement, seal crawlspace, and air seal attic. Not bad at all, BUT I got 12k in rebates by using empower MD. AMAZING!! they did the heat pump and furnace in a day (mostly 2 guys) and 2 contractors came and completed in a day the insulation part. NOW, Why 4 stars and not 5? 1 minor issue. Air sealing is great! Major improvements everywhere, but… fix one problem, another shows up. I had the house professionally waterproofed when I purchased it 10 years ago. They left a small gap where the basement wall meets the floor. Not a huge deal. I put a dehumidifier in, and all is good. I measured radon levels a few times, all below 3. Now…. Because the basement is so air tight, radon levels are in the 6-10 range. So now I have to look at radon mitigation. So, be aware of that if you are in my situation. The insulation contractors could have easily sealed that joint up with closed cell spray foam in an hour, but here I am. I’ve sealed the joint up with polyurethane sealant, and remeasuring now. I am in a lucky spot where I should be able to seal the drain, and sump pump lids and install a radon fan that way, as my home was built before 1980, so there is no gravel base under the slab. Overall, I was very satisfied with the workmanship and timeline to order materials and all, as well as everyone answering all my questions. I don’t want to ever pay anything, but price was fair too- even without empower MD. But I’m telling you now, use that before it’s gone!!

  **Update** I wanted to provide an update to my original review. After hearing back from the owner, I am adjusting my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. I do want to acknowledge that communication is a two-way street, and I could have followed up as well. My original post was not intended to be negative or to slander the company—it was simply an honest reflection of my experience at that time. I have since heard back from Brad, although there were a couple of inconsistencies in the messages received. That said, I understand that things can happen, and I appreciate the follow-up. I would be more than willing to continue the conversation and work through any outstanding items. You have my contact information, so please feel free to reach out to me directly. **Original Post** I wanted to share my experience regarding the quote process. Brad was very helpful during the visit and took the time to thoroughly explain the program, which I appreciated. However, it has now been over a week and I have not yet received the quote. They were the second company I had come out, and at this point are the only one I am still waiting to hear back from. Timely follow-up is an important part of the customer experience, especially when potential customers are actively making decisions. I cannot speak to the quality of their work since I did not make it to that stage, but I would encourage improved communication and follow-up with prospective customers.
