  I was hoping that I'd find a reliable and helpful service company and I believe I have in Spencer Home Services. From the initial call till the job was done it all went well. Anthony was on time and took care of a very worrisome situation. I liked as well that they give you updates on the techs arrival and such. Thanks Again for the great service.

  Rich from Spencer’s Home Contracting was amazing! He replaced two of my septic pumps within two days and made an incredibly stressful situation so much easier. I was panicking, and he immediately calmed me down, explained everything clearly, and kept me updated throughout the entire process. He was professional, reliable, knowledgeable, and kind. I highly recommend Rich!

  1 Star — Completely Unacceptable (Asphalt Project) I hired Spencer because of its 4.9-star rating and more than 1,000 Google reviews. I was recommending them to an extremely meticulous client, and I believed Spencer’s reputation made them one of the safest paving companies I could put my own name behind. I was wrong. Spencer’s salesperson visited the property multiple times, measured the driveway, discussed the project with the homeowner, and quoted approximately $5,200. Then, on the morning of installation, I received a call admitting the driveway had been measured incorrectly and that the $5,200 price was now approximately $9,200. The homeowner didn’t change the scope or add work. Spencer measured it wrong. Yet the price increased by nearly $4,000 at the eleventh hour. As bad as that was, what happened next was worse. One of the PRIMARY reasons Spencer was hired was to correct an existing water-puddling problem. Before installation, I specifically told the salesperson that the one thing that absolutely could not happen with the new driveway was puddling. This was discussed clearly and directly. Spencer installed the new driveway. And it puddles. We hired a 4.9-star paving company to correct a puddling problem, were hit with an approximately $4,000 increase on installation morning because of their own measuring error, and then ended up with a brand-new driveway exhibiting the exact problem Spencer was hired to eliminate. But the most disturbing part has been what happened afterward. The homeowner has documented the problem repeatedly with photographs and videos and has made numerous attempts to get answers through calls, texts, and emails. I then personally escalated the situation to Spencer’s owner and other officers of the company. That was approximately two weeks ago. Not one response. Not an explanation. Not a phone call. Not even an acknowledgment that the concerns had been received. Meanwhile, my client continues sending me photographs and videos of water sitting on his newly paved driveway, and I’m left trying to explain how a company with more than 1,000 reviews and a 4.9-star rating has handled his project this way. This wasn’t one mistake: The measurement was wrong. The price increased dramatically on installation morning. The exact drainage problem we warned about occurred anyway. The homeowner repeatedly attempted to obtain help. I escalated it directly to ownership and other company officers. Two weeks later—not one response. I work closely with hundreds of trade contractors throughout the North Shore, and this experience is almost a textbook example of how not to handle an estimating error, installation problem, and dissatisfied customer. Mistakes happen. Measurements can be wrong. Installations can have problems. Those things can be fixed. But once ownership and senior management know there is a serious problem, ignoring it is no longer a mistake. It’s a decision. I put my own credibility behind Spencer when I recommended them to this client. Based upon their public reputation, I believed I was putting him in exceptionally capable hands. I deeply regret that recommendation. A 4.9-star rating with more than 1,000 reviews takes years to build. I would expect a company with that reputation to move quickly when something goes this seriously wrong. Instead, after personally escalating the situation to ownership, we received silence. Spencer knew there was a problem. Ownership was notified. Other company officers were notified. And approximately two weeks later, there was still no response. That is the experience behind this one-star review.

  We had a great experience with Michael.Our plumber was incredibly nice, professional, and took the time to listen to all of our concerns. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and explained everything clearly, which we really appreciated. He was knowledgeable, respectful, and made us feel confident that our concerns were being taken seriously. Excellent customer service — we would definitely recommend him!

  Spencer upgraded our two unit A/C system. They came in with a team of specialists and did an amazing job. I very much appreciated that they explained what they were going to do and went over their work after everything was done. Everyone on their team - Charles, Lucas, Byron, Jesse, Joe, and Dillon - were professional and personable. My wife and I could not have had a better experience.
