My Dear Watson saved our heating/cooling system. We had a wall taken down and there was a return within that wall, and the contractors covered it up and said we did not need it. Over the last 6 months, I’ve noticed our heat and AC were extremely loud and not functioning properly. My Dear Watson is the only company, out of 5 companies (!!) that responded and took me seriously. It ended up that this was our MAIN return! Gordon was a pleasure to figure out the details with and got me on the schedule quickly. Celio did a seamless install and the wooden floor grate actually looks amazing. Thank you so much for all of your help and quick response time. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a thorough, well done job.

My Dear Watson has always been my choice for plumbing and heating, so I checked with Gordon when I needed a microwave installed. He was able to schedule the installation far sooner than the appliance store at a significant cost savings!

I have used My Dear Watson several times for a variety of needs. They have been very easy to work with to determine the work needed, scheduling and onsite performance. The technicians who came into our home were knowledgeable, professional and personable. They took the time to answer all our questions about their work. I'll keep going back to them as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions About My Dear Watson Plumbing, Heating & Cooling

What is the difference between oil and gas furnace cleaning?

Oil and gas furnaces require different cleaning approaches. Oil furnaces need specialized attention for the oil burner, which must be cleaned and tuned for optimal performance - a step not necessary for gas furnaces. Both types require maintenance of blower motor compartments, including thorough cleaning and filter replacement to ensure efficient operation and good air quality. The flue pipe and exhaust chambers in both systems need vacuuming to remove debris and prevent dangerous carbon monoxide buildup. For oil furnaces specifically, maintenance includes replacing oil tank and pump screen filters, cleaning the drawer assembly, inspecting electrodes and nozzles, checking oil pressure, and conducting a comprehensive combustion analysis with smoke testing. This thorough maintenance ensures longevity, efficiency, and safety for your heating system throughout the season.

Why do I need to winterize my home?

Winterizing your home during fall is essential to protect your investment. Water damage poses the greatest threat to properties, especially those unoccupied for extended periods. A fundamental preventive measure is shutting off the main water supply when leaving your home for any duration. For homes with hot water heating systems, adding glycol helps safeguard baseboard heaters and heating coils from freezing damage. These winterizing glycols are safe for both plumbing systems and the environment. We recommend developing the habit of shutting down your main water supply even for weekend absences. After closing the main supply, it's important to drain the system to its lowest point, which could be a basement bathroom, utility sink, or the bottom of your water heater.
