There is an artist in Framingham and his name is Marcio. He transformed our outdated kitchen into one of the most beautiful kitchens we have ever seen.
We had never replaced a countertop before and were a little daunted by the prospect. Marcio’s personal touch was priceless. He took the time we needed to select our stone. He visited several distributors with us and we walked amongst the thousand-pound slabs of granite and quartzite until we saw Picasso, a beautiful quartzite from Brazil. The colors and patterns in this natural stone were perfect for us and our preference for a natural stone versus a manmade material. We had initially planned to purchase only the countertop, but loved this stone so much that we added a full backsplash. It truly is the focal point of our beautiful kitchen.
Marcio’s work speaks for itself. He fabricates and lovingly sets each piece to fit, match the lines of the stone to flow beautifully. He has worked himself up from the bottom to the top of his industry. He is a true American success story.
There is something magical about this natural stone that we chose. Marcio made the comment that we will see something different every time we look at it, like kids finding pictures in the clouds in the sky. He was absolutely right. Every day we marvel at how beautiful our countertop and backsplash are and enjoy seeing the results of his hard work in our kitchen.

Metrowest GraniteCountertop cleaned restored and polished our kitchen, bar and bathroom granite and marble countertops and cleaned and restored a bathroom marble tile floor. In addition, we ordered a marble countertop for our baking center. We highly recommend Metrowest. Their owners, Marcio and Paula, are responsive, work diligently, have fair pricing and are just a pleasure to deal with. Our countertops and bathroom floor sparkle. We’re very pleased with Metrowest and especially with Marcio and Paula. We highly recommend them.

Marcio and his team at Marlboro Granite did an excellent job with a countertop install. He is a great communicator and his work was timely. Marcio gave his opinion on which counter he liked and we went with it - looks great! Will use them again and recommend to anyone.
Frequently Asked Questions About Metrowest Granite Countertop
What is the average cost of quartz, granite, or marble countertops?
The pricing for marble, granite, and quartz countertops varies considerably. Marble is generally the costliest option. Granite and quartz are often similarly priced, with a range from basic to more exotic, higher-priced varieties. We consider both your aesthetic preferences and financial constraints when recommending the most appropriate stone for your project.
Should I use marble or granite for my kitchen countertop?
While marble is often used in bathrooms and for decorative features, it's not typically recommended for kitchen countertops due to its susceptibility to scratching and damage from acidic substances. Granite, on the other hand, is highly durable and resistant to scratches, household acids, and normal kitchen heat, making it a more suitable choice for kitchen countertops.
Can I cut on my granite countertop?
Cutting directly on your granite countertop is not recommended. Granite's hardness will quickly dull knife blades. To protect both your countertop and your knives, it's best to always use a wooden or plastic cutting board for food preparation tasks.
Can my granite countertop be damaged?
While granite is highly durable, it can be damaged under certain conditions. Sharp, hard objects can potentially chip the surface if struck with high impact. Unsealed granite may absorb stains, especially from oils. However, normal kitchen heat typically doesn't affect granite. If a stain occurs, consult your stone supplier for advice on stain removal techniques.
Can my countertop fade?
Engineered quartz countertops may discolor over time when exposed to direct sunlight due to their resin content. This is an important factor to consider for sun-exposed areas. Natural stones like granite, marble, and quartzite have not shown issues with fading from sunlight exposure.
How long will it take to have my granite countertop installed?
The process from measurement to installation of a granite countertop typically takes about 2-3 weeks. This timeline allows for accurate measurements, fabrication, and scheduling of the installation process.
What are basic granite care and cleaning tips?
All granite has some degree of porosity. Harsh chemicals in soaps, cosmetics, and cleaning agents, as well as minerals in hard water and acidic foods, can affect the finish. To maintain your granite's appearance, avoid practices that could cause damage. While care requirements may vary between different stones, following general granite care guidelines for all countertops will help prevent most issues and ensure longevity.
What are the most popular countertop colors?
While neutral color schemes are common in kitchen designs, selecting a bold countertop color can add visual interest to your space. Our company offers a diverse range of color options. We encourage you to explore our selection to find inspiration for your kitchen or bathroom remodeling project.
What are the pros and cons of quartz countertops?
Quartz has become a highly popular countertop material in the United States. A recent study of residential kitchen countertops revealed that 40% of homeowners opted for engineered quartz, making it the second most popular choice after granite, which was used in 41% of homes.
What is a good thickness for granite countertops?
The industry standard thickness for granite countertops is typically 3 centimeters for kitchen islands and 2 centimeters for bathroom vanity tops. While thicker 2-inch granite slabs have gained popularity in interior design, they don't offer significant structural advantages over standard thicknesses. It's important to note that thicker slabs generally come at a higher cost.
What materials does Metrowest Granite Countertop supply and install?
Metrowest Granite Countertop supplies and installs stone countertops including granite, quartz, quartzite, marble, soapstone, and porcelain in Massachusetts and surrounding states.
What is the typical turnaround time for countertop installation at Metrowest Granite Countertop?
The typical turnaround time from measure to install is 2-3 weeks.
Are marble countertops recommended for kitchens?
Marble is generally used for bathroom vanity tops, jacuzzi tops, and fireplaces. It is not usually recommended for kitchens due to susceptibility to scratches and damage from acidic substances.
Can cutting be done directly on granite countertops?
Cutting directly on granite countertops is not recommended as it will dull your knives quickly. Always use a wooden or plastic cutting board.
How should I care for and clean my granite countertops?
Avoid using harsh chemicals and acidic or alkaline household cleaners. Use appropriate granite care and cleaning procedures and avoid habits that may damage the stone.
