  I had an issue with lack of domestic hot water. I called my oil supplier Mac Farlane Energy and they sent Joe over that day to look at the issue. Joe spent about 15 minutes reviewing everything and did a fantastic job of fixing the issue and explaining exactly what he did. I would recommend Joe and Mac Farlane Energy to anybody.

  We are very pleased with the Service provided by MacFarlane Energy. If it is an urgent issue, MacFarlane would send over a technician the same day. The technician Frank has been great and always listens to all our concerns and immediately resolves if there is an issue with our boiler or oil tank.

  I have been a long time MacFarlane customer. I have found their service to be exceptional. My technician today lived up to that standard. Matt was polite and personable all while sharing bad news about my furnace. He was honest and forthright explaining what’s next for my heating system. This is the reason I stay with them.

  WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING MACFARLANE ENERGY: READ THIS BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR AUTOMATIC DELIVERY. I became a customer in 2022 and enrolled in MacFarlane's Value Plan, which includes an annual boiler tune-up. My last oil delivery was March 18, 2024, and my last annual tune-up was February 9, 2024. For approximately TWO YEARS, MacFarlane made no deliveries, performed no annual maintenance, and never once contacted me about my account. I began purchasing oil elsewhere because when my tank hits 50% I don't like to have 1 huge oil bill. No Oil, No service for 2 years I reasonably believed our relationship had ended. Then, without a phone call, email, or advance notice, MacFarlane unexpectedly delivered 152 gallons on March 26, 2026, charging me $916.84, approximately $6.03 per gallon, during a period of extremely high oil prices. MacFarlane's own Value Plan documentation promises annual maintenance, yet I received none for approximately two years. Despite that, the company resumed deliveries without warning and charged me its service-plan price. Now, instead of resolving the dispute, MacFarlane is threatening to take me to small claims court. My warning to Massachusetts homeowners: DO NOT assume that years without deliveries or contact mean your automatic-delivery agreement has ended. Get everything in writing, understand the cancellation requirements, and carefully consider whether the promised services justify the price. I have retained the invoices, service-plan documentation, and correspondence supporting my experience. Based on how MacFarlane has handled my account and this dispute, I would NEVER recommend this company.

  Joe came to my house today to inspect my equipment and install an oil meter. He was incredibly respectful and informative throughout the process, including taking the time to explain my system to me, some potential problems, and even put on boot covers to keep my floors clean while raining heavily outside. This is my first time working with McFarlane and have nothing but positive feedback to report.
