Backflow Service

Water safety is something most homeowners and business owners never have to think about—until a problem arises. One of the biggest threats to clean, safe drinking water is backflow, a serious plumbing issue that can contaminate your water supply with harmful substances. At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we provide professional backflow testing and certification to ensure your property meets Louisiana safety regulations and maintains a clean water supply for your home, family, or business. Backflow occurs when the normal direction of water flow reverses due to changes in water pressure. For example, if there is a sudden drop in city water pressure during a water main break or nearby hydrant use, contaminated water can be pulled backward into the clean water lines. This can introduce dangerous chemicals, pesticides, bacteria, and sewage into drinking water. Backflow is a real and urgent health risk, which is why Louisiana law requires annual backflow testing for many residential, commercial, and industrial properties. A properly functioning backflow prevention device stops contaminated water from entering the public supply. However, like any plumbing component, it must be tested regularly to ensure it is working correctly. If your property uses irrigation systems, fire sprinklers, boiler systems, or commercial plumbing equipment, chances are you are required to have a certified backflow device and maintain annual compliance through professional testing. At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we are licensed to perform official backflow testing, repair, and certification. Our team uses precise testing procedures with specialized equipment to verify that your backflow preventer is functioning safely and efficiently. If your device fails inspection, we will recommend and complete any necessary repairs on the same visit whenever possible to keep your home or business in compliance. After testing, we complete and submit all required certification paperwork to local water authorities, saving you time and hassle. Many local water utilities, homeowners’ associations, commercial insurance policies, and health departments require proof of a current backflow certification. Annual testing is not just a safety precaution—it is often a legal requirement. Failing to complete annual testing can result in water service interruption, fines, or even contamination warnings. Our plumbers make compliance simple by offering reminder services and scheduled testing plans, so you never miss your renewal deadline. We provide professional backflow services for homeowners, rental properties, apartment communities, restaurants, medical facilities, schools, manufacturing plants, and agricultural properties. Whether you need a routine test, emergency repair, or a complete backflow preventer installation, you can rely on our knowledgeable and experienced plumbing team. With decades of trusted service across Louisiana, we are committed to protecting the health and safety of every customer we serve. Unlike many plumbing companies that outsource backflow work, we handle the entire process in-house with licensed experts who understand both residential and commercial system requirements. We follow all state plumbing codes and municipal regulations to deliver accurate, reliable results every time. Our certified plumbers are trained in reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assemblies, double-check valves, pressure vacuum breakers, and all types of approved prevention devices. Clean water is something you should never have to worry about. When you choose Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing for backflow testing and certification, you get more than a inspection—you get peace of mind. Our process is fast, affordable, and fully compliant, ensuring your water supply stays safe and your property meets all local regulations. From routine testing to complex repairs and new installations, we are your complete backflow prevention specialists. If you received a notice from your water provider that your testing is due, or if you are installing a new irrigation or commercial system that requires backflow protection, we can help. Contact Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing today to schedule backflow testing and certification with a licensed expert. Slab Leak Detection & Repair in Shreveport, LA

A slab leak is one of the most damaging plumbing problems a homeowner can face. At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we provide trusted slab leak repair in Shreveport, LA, helping homeowners protect their foundation, prevent costly water damage, and avoid structural issues. A slab leak occurs when a water line located beneath your home’s concrete foundation cracks, corrodes, or bursts, allowing water to escape below the surface. Because these leaks are hidden under the slab, they are difficult to detect without professional help and can cause long-term damage if ignored. Homeowners in Shreveport should watch for early signs of a slab leak such as a sudden increase in the water bill, unexplained damp or warm flooring, low water pressure throughout the house, persistent mold or mildew growth, cracks appearing in walls or flooring, or the sound of water running even when all fixtures are turned off. These symptoms often indicate water escaping below your foundation and should be addressed immediately by a skilled plumber. In Louisiana, slab leaks are commonly caused by shifting soil from heavy rain, aging or corroded pipes, high water pressure, poor installation during construction, or tree roots damaging underground lines. Because these leaks occur beneath the foundation, locating them requires advanced equipment and expertise. Our team offers professional slab leak detection in Shreveport using non-invasive technology designed to pinpoint the exact source of the leak without causing unnecessary damage to your property. Once the leak is located, we provide the best slab leak repair options based on the severity and location of the damage. Depending on the situation, we may repair the affected pipe directly, reroute the water line to bypass damaged sections, or use epoxy restoration methods to seal and reinforce weakened pipes. Every repair is completed using safe, long-lasting methods that protect your foundation and home. Slab leaks are not something homeowners should attempt to repair on their own. These repairs require precise tools, technical experience, and careful planning to prevent structural damage. When you choose Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, you receive expert service from licensed professionals who are committed to protecting your home and delivering long-term plumbing solutions. If you suspect a slab leak or notice warning signs such as rising water bills, damp areas on your floor, or unexplained mold growth, do not delay. Slab leaks worsen over time and can lead to extensive foundation damage. Contact us today to schedule slab leak repair in Shreveport, LA, or visit markjohnsonplumbing.com to request an inspection. Our team is here to help you protect your home and restore your plumbing system quickly and professionally.

This company sent a technician to my rental property to fix some old turnoff lines. Cut a big hole no line drawn cut but knocked out and did no work in that area. Didn’t check the line was working properly. Couple of weeks I had to call them back out for the same area because the line hose where backing up. No warranty was offered I got charged again. The technician didn’t provide pictures which was requested

Had a leak in the main water line (copper pipe) coming into my house behind a vinyl siding outer wall. I also had a faucet leak in the main bath. Brandon quickly found the leak on the main line and repaired the faucet valves fast and efficient. After taking off the outer wall, repairs made, went to town and picked up parts for the faucet repair, clean up was better than when he arrived. Much appreciated work. Would highly recommend this respectful hard working young man. I would definitely use him again.

I love how this company communicates with you. They sent me a picture of the technician. They sent me a live link so I could track their vehicle when coming to my house. Everything was explained very thoroughly to me. Everything was left clean. They used shoe covers while in my home. They installed a new electric water heater, located in my attic. I am extremely satisfied with their customer service, professionalism and technical skills.
