Backflow Service

Water safety is something most homeowners and business owners never have to think about—until a problem arises. One of the biggest threats to clean, safe drinking water is backflow, a serious plumbing issue that can contaminate your water supply with harmful substances. At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we provide professional backflow testing and certification to ensure your property meets Louisiana safety regulations and maintains a clean water supply for your home, family, or business. Backflow occurs when the normal direction of water flow reverses due to changes in water pressure. For example, if there is a sudden drop in city water pressure during a water main break or nearby hydrant use, contaminated water can be pulled backward into the clean water lines. This can introduce dangerous chemicals, pesticides, bacteria, and sewage into drinking water. Backflow is a real and urgent health risk, which is why Louisiana law requires annual backflow testing for many residential, commercial, and industrial properties. A properly functioning backflow prevention device stops contaminated water from entering the public supply. However, like any plumbing component, it must be tested regularly to ensure it is working correctly. If your property uses irrigation systems, fire sprinklers, boiler systems, or commercial plumbing equipment, chances are you are required to have a certified backflow device and maintain annual compliance through professional testing. At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we are licensed to perform official backflow testing, repair, and certification. Our team uses precise testing procedures with specialized equipment to verify that your backflow preventer is functioning safely and efficiently. If your device fails inspection, we will recommend and complete any necessary repairs on the same visit whenever possible to keep your home or business in compliance. After testing, we complete and submit all required certification paperwork to local water authorities, saving you time and hassle. Many local water utilities, homeowners’ associations, commercial insurance policies, and health departments require proof of a current backflow certification. Annual testing is not just a safety precaution—it is often a legal requirement. Failing to complete annual testing can result in water service interruption, fines, or even contamination warnings. Our plumbers make compliance simple by offering reminder services and scheduled testing plans, so you never miss your renewal deadline. We provide professional backflow services for homeowners, rental properties, apartment communities, restaurants, medical facilities, schools, manufacturing plants, and agricultural properties. Whether you need a routine test, emergency repair, or a complete backflow preventer installation, you can rely on our knowledgeable and experienced plumbing team. With decades of trusted service across Louisiana, we are committed to protecting the health and safety of every customer we serve. Unlike many plumbing companies that outsource backflow work, we handle the entire process in-house with licensed experts who understand both residential and commercial system requirements. We follow all state plumbing codes and municipal regulations to deliver accurate, reliable results every time. Our certified plumbers are trained in reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assemblies, double-check valves, pressure vacuum breakers, and all types of approved prevention devices. Clean water is something you should never have to worry about. When you choose Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing for backflow testing and certification, you get more than a inspection—you get peace of mind. Our process is fast, affordable, and fully compliant, ensuring your water supply stays safe and your property meets all local regulations. From routine testing to complex repairs and new installations, we are your complete backflow prevention specialists. If you received a notice from your water provider that your testing is due, or if you are installing a new irrigation or commercial system that requires backflow protection, we can help. Contact Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing today to schedule backflow testing and certification with a licensed expert. We proudly serve homeowners and businesses across Louisiana with honest pricing, fast response times, and dependable customer service.

Slab Leak Repairs

t Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we know how serious a slab leak can be for homeowners in Ruston, LA. Because slab leaks occur beneath your home’s concrete foundation, they often go unnoticed until they cause major water damage, structural problems, or costly repairs. A slab leak happens when the underground water lines running beneath your foundation crack, corrode, or burst. Water then begins to leak under the slab, which can undermine the structure of your home over time. If a slab leak is not detected and repaired quickly, it can damage flooring, walls, and even your foundation. It can also lead to mold growth and cause a sudden increase in your monthly water bill. Many homeowners in Ruston first suspect a slab leak when they notice unexplained damp areas on their floors or warm spots caused by a leaking hot water line. Low water pressure, unusual sounds of running water inside the walls, and cracks appearing in flooring or sheetrock are also common warning signs. A persistent musty odor is often a sign that moisture has begun to collect under the foundation, which should never be ignored. Slab leaks develop for many reasons, including shifting soil, corrosion caused by Louisiana’s mineral-rich water, high water pressure, or poorly installed pipes. Tree roots searching for water can also damage underground lines. Because the leak is hidden beneath the foundation, specialized plumbing equipment is required to locate the problem accurately. That’s why we offer professional slab leak detection in Ruston, LA using advanced acoustic and thermal technology. Our team can locate leaks without tearing up your home or guessing at the source of the problem. Once we identify the issue, we provide customized repair solutions based on your home’s needs. Whether that means rerouting water lines, performing direct spot repairs, or using modern epoxy restoration methods, we focus on long-term protection and reliability. Slab leaks are not a repair you should attempt on your own. They require professional skill, proper tools, and experience to ensure the repair is safe and effective. At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we are fully licensed and equipped to handle slab leak repairs of any complexity. We pride ourselves on honest service, clear communication, and quality workmanship that protects your home and family. If you suspect a slab leak in your Ruston home, don’t wait until the damage gets worse. Early detection can save you thousands of dollars in repairs and prevent long-term structural damage. Contact Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing today to schedule a slab leak inspection in Ruston, LA, or visit markjohnsonplumbing.com to learn more about our plumbing services.

Noah came out for an after hours call to address a second floor water leak. He quickly diagnosed the leak source (a crack in a fiberglass bath tub) and made a temporary repair until we can repair or replace the tub. He then tested other potential leak sources to ensure he had properly diagnosed the problem. Noah was friendly, courteous and professional throughout the process. We would welcome him on any future plumbing job we may have arise. Beyond Noah, we found the entire experience with Mark Johnson Plumbing to be outstanding. We discovered the leak late in the evening before the arrival of 12 guests for the 4th of July holidays. The company responded to our after hours panic call courteously and professionally. We were provided a bio ahead of time and even a link to track the Noah’s progress towards our house.

Called just after 7am to make sure to schedule a plumber to repair clogged drain. Appointment was set for between 12 and 2 pm. No one had showed up after 2 pm. Called and found out that they did not get the appointment in the computer. Asked to get someone out that evening and stated they would have to charge $150 after hour fee even though it was their mistake

I really was impressed with Noah. I was really surprised he hooked my dishwasher when he came and didn't just do an estimate. When it drys out a little bit, I plan to do the plan for descaling my tankless water heater once a year and would like to request Noah to do the work. I will be contacting you soon. Thank you.
