Backflow Service

Water safety is something most homeowners and business owners never have to think about—until a problem arises. One of the biggest threats to clean, safe drinking water is backflow, a serious plumbing issue that can contaminate your water supply with harmful substances. At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we provide professional backflow testing and certification to ensure your property meets Louisiana safety regulations and maintains a clean water supply for your home, family, or business. Backflow occurs when the normal direction of water flow reverses due to changes in water pressure. For example, if there is a sudden drop in city water pressure during a water main break or nearby hydrant use, contaminated water can be pulled backward into the clean water lines. This can introduce dangerous chemicals, pesticides, bacteria, and sewage into drinking water. Backflow is a real and urgent health risk, which is why Louisiana law requires annual backflow testing for many residential, commercial, and industrial properties. A properly functioning backflow prevention device stops contaminated water from entering the public supply. However, like any plumbing component, it must be tested regularly to ensure it is working correctly. If your property uses irrigation systems, fire sprinklers, boiler systems, or commercial plumbing equipment, chances are you are required to have a certified backflow device and maintain annual compliance through professional testing. At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we are licensed to perform official backflow testing, repair, and certification. Our team uses precise testing procedures with specialized equipment to verify that your backflow preventer is functioning safely and efficiently. If your device fails inspection, we will recommend and complete any necessary repairs on the same visit whenever possible to keep your home or business in compliance. After testing, we complete and submit all required certification paperwork to local water authorities, saving you time and hassle. Many local water utilities, homeowners’ associations, commercial insurance policies, and health departments require proof of a current backflow certification. Annual testing is not just a safety precaution—it is often a legal requirement. Failing to complete annual testing can result in water service interruption, fines, or even contamination warnings. Our plumbers make compliance simple by offering reminder services and scheduled testing plans, so you never miss your renewal deadline. We provide professional backflow services for homeowners, rental properties, apartment communities, restaurants, medical facilities, schools, manufacturing plants, and agricultural properties. Whether you need a routine test, emergency repair, or a complete backflow preventer installation, you can rely on our knowledgeable and experienced plumbing team. With decades of trusted service across Louisiana, we are committed to protecting the health and safety of every customer we serve. Unlike many plumbing companies that outsource backflow work, we handle the entire process in-house with licensed experts who understand both residential and commercial system requirements. We follow all state plumbing codes and municipal regulations to deliver accurate, reliable results every time. Our certified plumbers are trained in reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assemblies, double-check valves, pressure vacuum breakers, and all types of approved prevention devices. Clean water is something you should never have to worry about. When you choose Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing for backflow testing and certification, you get more than a inspection—you get peace of mind. Our process is fast, affordable, and fully compliant, ensuring your water supply stays safe and your property meets all local regulations. From routine testing to complex repairs and new installations, we are your complete backflow prevention specialists. If you received a notice from your water provider that your testing is due, or if you are installing a new irrigation or commercial system that requires backflow protection, we can help. Contact Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing today to schedule backflow testing and certification with a licensed expert. Slab Leak Warning Signs

At Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, we understand that slab leaks are among the most damaging plumbing problems a homeowner in Monroe, LA can experience. Because these leaks form beneath the concrete foundation of your home, they often go unnoticed until they have already caused serious structural or water damage. A slab leak occurs when the water lines running beneath your home crack, corrode, or burst, allowing water to escape under the slab. Left untreated, this can weaken your foundation, create mold growth, damage flooring, and significantly increase your water bill. Recognizing the warning signs early can help prevent costly repairs. Many Monroe homeowners first notice a slab leak when their water bill suddenly increases despite normal usage. Other signs include damp or warm flooring, unexplained water pooling indoors, decreased water pressure, or the sound of running water when pipes are not in use. You may also notice mold, musty odors, or cracks along walls and flooring—clear signs that water may be damaging your foundation. In Louisiana, slab leaks are commonly caused by shifting soil, aging or poorly installed pipes, high water pressure, or damage from tree roots. Because these leaks happen underground, identifying the exact source requires professional diagnostic equipment and experience. That’s why we offer advanced slab leak detection in Monroe, LA. Our skilled plumbers use specialized technology to accurately locate leaks without unnecessary demolition or guesswork. Once detected, we provide reliable slab leak repair services designed to restore your plumbing system and protect your foundation. Whether the repair requires rerouting lines, epoxy restoration, or direct pipe replacement, we offer long-term solutions tailored to your home. Slab leaks are never a DIY fix. Without proper tools and expertise, attempting to repair them on your own can lead to more damage and higher repair costs. When you trust Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing, you’re choosing licensed professionals who deliver precise detection, honest recommendations, and dependable repair options. If you’re seeing signs of a slab leak in your Monroe home, don’t wait. These issues only worsen over time. Contact Mark Johnson & Sons Plumbing today to schedule slab leak detection or repair, or visit markjohnsonplumbing.com for more information. We’re proud to help Monroe homeowners protect their homes with fast, reliable plumbing solutions.

I had a bust pipe and my yard was flooded. Robert came out and fixed everything quickly and efficiently! He was super nice and explained everything to me so I knew what was going on, which I appreciated. This was a disaster I was unhappy about dealing with after work, but Robert made the whole ordeal better and stress free. I definitely recommend him and Mark Johnson and Sons Plumbing!

I gave them a call Monday afternoon, they were here bright and early Tuesday morning. Justin Hurst got in the attic checked everything out, gave me the bad news that the hot water heater had heated it's last. Worked me up an estimate, got everything together. Had us fixed up in no time. Staff is excellent, Memory took down my issue, got a technician assigned and all my info in just a matter of minutes. Justin the technician arrived, introduced himself (even though I knew exactly who to expect due to the detailed appointment information they texted me, including his photo and a brief family bio). Would highly recommend this company.
