  I wanted to support a local business, but this experience made it painfully clear why people end up going to Wichita and buying from big box stores instead. We had 21 boards delivered from Home Lumber in Winfield, and what showed up was unacceptable. 17 out of 21 boards were severely compromised-edges still covered in bark, large knots running through the boards, and multiple pieces warped and twisted. These weren’t minor imperfections-these were boards that are difficult to use and, in some cases, borderline unusable for framing. The only reason this wasn’t obvious at delivery is because the 5 decent boards were stacked neatly on top, conveniently hiding the quality of everything underneath. Once unloaded, the reality of what we were given was clear. To make matters worse, the delivery was made right before closing, leaving zero opportunity to call and address the issue or request replacements. Their limited weekend hours make it nearly impossible for anyone with a normal work schedule to resolve problems in a timely way. When I went in to speak with the assistant manager, I was told-word for word-that if we wanted quality boards, we should have said so ahead of time so they could tell their guys to “pick straighter ones that aren’t warped.” Let that sink in. You’re paying premium prices, and you’re expected to request that your lumber not be warped, bark-covered, or structurally compromised? That’s not a miscommunication-that’s a business practice problem. We intentionally chose to spend our money locally to support a small business in our community. Unfortunately, what we were met with was a lack of quality, lack of accountability, and frankly, a lack of basic business ethics. At this point, it’s hard to justify not just driving to Wichita and buying from a big box store where, at minimum, there’s some level of quality control and a willingness to take responsibility and refund or replace defective materials. This experience cost us time, money, and unnecessary frustration. We won’t be ordering from here again, and I would strongly recommend others think twice before doing so.

  Best experience I have ever had in a business. An associate greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and asked me if I needed help. He quickly found exactly what I needed then another one checked me out. Associates are friendly and know their store and products. So much better than wandering around a big box store.

  Bought Milwaukee hoody. That requires me to buy a charger and battery. Separately there over 50 dollars. On line, you can buy two batteries and a charger. For a lot less than that. What gives?

  Sadly, every time (6) me or my husband try to go in and support this business, no one bothers to help us. When we ask for help they treat us like we are just a pain to them. (Plumbing, wood for deck, paint for downstairs, paint for outside door are a few stops we made). We ended up having to drive to Ark City or Lowe’s. Very disappointing!
