  Based on my recent experience at Lumber Liquidators … I feel The new company’s standards are much lower than those I’ve experience in the past when they were LL flooring. I purchased 80 boxes of Sugar Mill Hickory flooring plus stair treads and misc. finishing pieces from Lumber Liquidators about 6 weeks ago for $19,400. Installation started last week. At the end of the 1st day I inspected the floor that was installed in our upstairs hallway and immediately realized the quality or grade of flooring was Much Much worse than the same flooring we purchased 2X earlier from LL Fooring for 2 bedrooms. It was so bad I have had to start opening the boxes myself, inspect the flooring and separating good boards from bad. It is amazing how much would ended up in the bad pile. I did a lot of research and found out there are grades of flooring… my guess is Lumber Liquidators has Substantially lowered the grade of wood they are using and also their quality standards.

  Exploitative Business Practices Regarding the Elderly and Minorities My mother-in-law, an elderly immigrant woman of limited means, went to lumber liquidators on the advice of her hired contractor to buy material for flooring. She brought photos and samples of the materials which she needed to purchase. Her command of the English language is far from perfect, so she was totally at the mercy of the store's clerks in ensuring that her order was accurately filled out. Several months later, to her dismay, she was informed by the contractor that in fact, Lumber Liquidators had filled out her order incorrectly, giving her a t-shaped trim instead of a reducer trim for a wood floor. Both packages of this trim were in good condition, one being unopened, and the other only opened to confirm that it was an incorrect component. To her surprise and mine, Lumber Liquidators would not under any circumstances replace the incorrect item. A clerk there at the time, Travis, went so far as to accuse her of fabricating her claim that Lumber Liquidators had erred. The amount in controversy was not substantial, but the store's unwillingness to rectify their mistake with respect to an elderly woman speaks volume about the trustworthiness of their business practices. If you are a general contractor, knowledgable in the field, this store's exploitative practices and tendency to deceive may not affect you. However, if you are a lay person, or anything less than an expert, this business is clearly a hazardous place to make a purchase.
