Brian was very kind and knowledgeable. When I requested he check/change a filter, he was happy to oblige. When the filter cover wouldn’t come off, rather than risk breaking it, he set up an appointment for me with one of your plumbers. My only negative comment (and this has nothing to do with Brian) is that I tend to think that for my cost of a yearly membership/maintenance agreement, my inspection should include a check (and clean or change if needed) of ALL the filters in the house—sediment filter downstairs and all R/O filters under the sink. I purchase the filters and have them on hand, but depending on on professionals to check/change them.

I needed my sump pump checked and had called several other plumbing companies but because it was a weekend they were all up charging $150 or more to come do an assessment. I was hesitant to call Ben Franklin Because I assume that any large brand is going to be much more expensive than a local guy because of marketing, etc. But they were willing to come when I needed them and the minimum service call was only $90. At the end of the day, he checked everything and said there was nothing wrong. The sump alarm just needed to be reset and $90 was all that he charged.

Found out our natural gas pipes weren't holding pressure in the morning. Benjamin Franklin was able to get a technician out to our house same day and we were able to get our gas turned back on by the end of the day. Matthew was great and I appreciated his methodical approach to pinpointing the leaks and fixing them. One thing of note: Benjamin Franklin claims they charge by the job and not the hour, and even stated it over the phone as I told them the issue that needed to be addressed. When the Matthew arrived, I was given a price for the first two hours and then a quote for what it would be for every additional hour. I understand the reasoning for charging this way, but that means what Benjamin Franklin says isn't always true. This breaks down trust. Especially if I'm told two different things within a couple hours.

I have to retract my review! First let me say that I believe I was overcharged for a job that wasn't even done. I found a special on fb for $49 drain clean out and free camera inspection. First red flag was the plumber showed up a day before the camera inspection was scheduled and that was due to the fact that if I hadn't have mentioned the free camera inspection the plumber wouldn't have even mentioned it was a part of the coupon. I'm glad I reread the coupon while he was there. He actually didn't even know that I was suppose to be getting the promotional offer that i was scheduled for until i said something to him once he quoted me normal prices for the work. Second red flag is the plumber said he was having trouble with his equipment and once he got the snake in the drain from inside the house, he said he couldn't go further than 9 feet out. He didn't have a cutter attachment to break up any roots or clogs therefore he didn't actually clear out the drain. Once he removed his snake he said there's nothing he can do and $139 later we got nowhere. I'm still not sure what I paid for. He did schedule the appointment for the camera guy to come out the next day and when he ran the camera we both saw a small root in the line but no breaks. Now if the camera inspection that was a part of the coupon was scheduled and ran first the plumber would have known what equipment to have and could have potentially cleared the root. So I was charged $89 just for him coming out which I wasn't told about that fee over the phone when I scheduled and $49 for a drain clean out which wasn't actually cleaned out. The camera inspector was very knowledgeable, communicative, funny, and offered great advice and didn't charge extra just for showing up when the coupon said free! If the offer for the clean out was advertised at $49 there should have still been something on the advertisement that says there's an $89 charge just for the plumber to show up whether he does the job or not. I called and made a new appointment with 317 plumber and they're coming to do the clean out of the roots and the free camera inspection BEFORE the clean out for a flat rate $59 with NO extra hidden fees!!! The plumber from 317 even came and looked over everything and got all the info from the previous waste of time with Benjamin plumber and decided it's best they run a new camera inspection before they do any work to make sure they can do the job effectively and NO HIDDEN OR EXTRA FEES... $59 FLATE RATE!!!

I have a clogged drain, so I googled who to call and BF was offering a $49 coupon for drain cleaning. I called the number to verify and he said yes, you will get the special price”. When the plumber arrives he tries to sell me a $1000 treatment to end all clogs in the future, which was a bit tacky. I said “no thanks”. Then, he said the estimated charge to unclog this time will be over $300. I mentioned the coupon and he said the coupon was not real and that the call center is overseas and doesn’t know what they are saying, (yet the call center set up the appointment and sent me texts linking me to the technician standing in front of me). I told him I need to look elsewhere and he proceeded to charge me $89 for a trip charge….for nothing! I actually feel sorry for the employee who has to work this way. Benjamin…you need to get your act together!
