I spoke to Ben about a building project I wanted to do on my property. I went over what we are going to use the building for and the proposed dimensions. He said he would start working on the plans and reach out to some past customers for us to tour a build project similar to what we were looking to do. I called him back the following day to speak with him about local building codes and left him a message. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything back from him.

I saved, planned and thought the premium price would result in a premium building. Look at the photos and judge for yourself. The over sunk fasteners resulted in the metal popping up on the sides of the metal ridges. The wind vane was mounted on the ridge vent and squished it down vs. the rest of it. Look closely at the side shot and towards the front the whole wall is sagging inward. Some fasteners missing on the grade board. Knowing what I know now I should have saved 20k and used our local contractor.
Update.

Morton Buildings advertising must be doing so well they can turn away business. Like many others, called and spoke to a woman who took my info and told me a sales representative would reach out to me. Never heard from anyone so I assume they don't want/need my business. Would not recommend unless you enjoy giving someone your money to be treated poorly.

Frequently Asked Questions About Morton Buildings, Inc.
What is a Morton Building?
A Morton Building is a premium post-frame structure (often referred to as a pole barn) known for its high-quality construction, proprietary materials, and exceptional durability. Founded in 1903, Morton Buildings custom-builds highly engineered wood-framed structures with heavy-gauge steel siding and roofing. They are used for a variety of applications, including farm shops, residential homes, equestrian facilities, garages, and commercial buildings.
How much does a Morton Building cost?
The cost of a Morton Building typically ranges from $30 to $65 per square foot for a basic structural shell, and between $50 and $150+ per square foot for a fully finished building. Pricing varies significantly based on factors such as building size, geographic location, custom design features, door and window packages, and whether the structure is a basic agricultural storage facility or a fully finished residential home.
Does Morton Buildings build residential homes and barndominiums?
Yes, Morton Buildings constructs custom residential homes, shop-houses (shouses), cabins, and barndominiums. Morton builds the highly energy-efficient, weatherproof post-frame structural shell—including exterior doors, windows, and steel siding—leaving the interior floor plan open. Homeowners then work with local subcontractors to complete the concrete, plumbing, electrical, and interior finishes.
What types of structures does Morton Buildings construct?
Morton Buildings designs and constructs a wide variety of custom post-frame structures. Their main specialties include agricultural farm buildings (machine storage, livestock facilities), equestrian stables and riding arenas, residential homes and cabins, detached garages and hobby shops, and commercial and community facilities like event venues, retail spaces, and churches.
What is included in a standard Morton Building quote?
A typical Morton Building quote includes the fully erected structural shell constructed by Morton’s own employee crews. This generally covers the laminated wood columns, engineered trusses, steel roofing and siding, and standard overhead and walk-in doors. Items typically excluded from the initial shell quote are site preparation, concrete foundation slabs, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and interior drywall.
Are Morton Buildings all-metal structures?
No, Morton Buildings are not all-metal or rigid-steel buildings. They are post-frame structures, meaning they utilize a highly engineered wood framing system featuring laminated timber columns and wood trusses. This wood frame is then enveloped in premium, heavy-gauge roll-formed steel siding and roofing. This hybrid construction offers superior energy efficiency, better insulation capabilities, and more design flexibility than traditional all-steel buildings.
What makes Morton Buildings different from other pole barn builders?
Morton Buildings stands out from other pole barn builders through their turnkey project management, exclusive proprietary materials, and use of 100% company-employed construction crews rather than subcontractors. Unlike standard kit providers, Morton manufactures its own roll-formed steel, utilizes superior laminated timber columns, applies a fade-resistant proprietary paint system, and handles the construction directly to ensure quality control.
What kind of warranty does Morton Buildings offer?
Morton Buildings offers an industry-leading, non-prorated, 50-year limited warranty. This comprehensive coverage includes a 50-year warranty against snow load damage to the structure, a 50-year warranty against wood rot on preservative-treated columns, and a 35-year warranty on their proprietary paint finish against fading, chalking, and peeling.
