Outstanding carpenter/craftsman who rebuilt the lower ornamental exterior porch posts for our 120-year-old house. Excellent work

From start to finish this was an easy process to get my project done. This was my first time using ACE. I needed some drywall repair in my bathroom. I filled out a form online and was contacted later that day, I was able to have someone out to my house within a week. Nick (Nikolay) was my craftsman, he was friendly, professional and very thorough. My bathroom ceiling looks amazing now. The price was reasonable (he was at my house almost all day) would definitely use these services again! ACE is probably one of the few companies that still have integrity after all these years.

TJ was wonderful. Very personable. Incredibly efficient. Took great care to make the window frames look perfect once the awnings were removed. Caulked all the old hardware holes. He even removed hooks that had nothing to do with the awnings.

I had an unacceptable experience with Ace Handyman Services today. I was quoted 6–8 hours ($909–$1,079) to complete four straightforward tasks: swapping three light switches, mounting a bathroom exhaust fan, repairing exterior siding, and replacing basement trim. Instead, I was billed $1,350 nearly $300 over the high end of the quote for an incomplete job. In an entire day, the technician only managed to swap two switches and halfway install the exhaust fan. The siding and basement trim were completely untouched. On top of the severe lack of productivity, the billing felt deceptive: The tech arrived at 8:30 AM and departed at 5:00 PM (8.5 hours total on-site), yet I was billed for a full 9 hours despite their stated policy of 15-minute billing increments. An hour and a half was spent simply running to the store to pick up basic drywall and an exhaust elbow, which was billed entirely at the hourly rate plus materials markups. Paying $1,350 for two light switches and an unfinished fan from a technician who appeared completely unqualified for routine handyman tasks is indefensible. This experience was bad enough that I won't be using this service again, nor will I be shopping at Ace retail stores going forward.

I hired this company to fix my downstairs neighbor’s ceiling after my bathroom plumbing leaked downstairs into her unit and a hole had to be cut to access the pipes. I thought I could depend on Ace to complete what was obviously necessary—replacing the drywall and preparing the ceiling to be painted. Nicholas came and charged for almost 8 hours of work for a 4x4 hole, and then failed to caulk the corners, leaving open gaps in my neighbor’s ceiling. Admin staff claim they couldn't reach me at work to “discuss” this, didn’t talk about it with my neighbor, and failed to mention anything when I returned their call. Now, Ace claims that because I didn’t initially specify that we needed caulking, they aren’t responsible for completing that work and I’d have to pay their hourly rate to have the ceiling repair completed. So, I guess a customer must be a contractor, educated in the language and terminology of home repair, in order to ensure that a bathroom ceiling repair isn’t left with open gaps. My poor neighbor, who hasn’t been able to shower in a week, still can’t bathe and I’m out $1200 for a job that I’ll have to finish myself after a long day of work. I’ll also add that Nicholas offered to paint my neighbor’s ceiling off-books for cash, took $100 from her, then didn’t finish that job either and sent her an incoherent text an hour after he was meant to arrive telling her to find someone else to finish it.
