We are very disappointed with the overall experience and quality of our new driveway with Chicagoland Garage Builders.
Communication throughout the process was extremely poor, particularly regarding when crews would be coming to our home. We were told we would receive a call before workers came out, yet on multiple occasions they simply showed up without notice.
The driveway was poured in separate sections on two different days. Before they began pouring the first section, we specifically raised concerns because rain was expected later that night. The concrete was left uncovered, and it did in fact rain heavily. The finished driveway now has a very noticeable difference in color and appearance between the sections. Regardless of the cause, this is not the uniform finished appearance we expected from a brand-new driveway.
We are also extremely disappointed with the curb work. Within approximately one week of being poured, the curb had already cracked in multiple places, as shown in the photos. There is also noticeable staining/discoloration extending from the curb onto the driveway. When we showed them videos of the cracks and staining, we were told that the staining was from the sealant and that they don’t usually do curbs on driveways.
This was particularly frustrating because the curb was required as part of the county permitting process. They were aware of the permit requirements and completed the curb work without ever telling us beforehand that this was work they did not normally perform or raising any concern about their ability to complete it properly.
After numerous complaints, we were eventually told they would come back and fill the cracks in the curb after final permit approval. We were also told they had submitted the request for final inspection to the County “as a courtesy,” because this was normally the homeowner’s responsibility. We would have gladly requested the final inspection ourselves had we been told we needed to do so. After waiting approximately two weeks, we contacted the County ourselves and learned that the final inspection request had not been submitted.
Once the final permit approval was obtained, we notified the company. They returned and cut slits in the curb, but did not fill the existing cracks as we had been told they would. Again, they were supposed to call before coming so we could leave the hose available for them. Instead, they showed up one afternoon without notice.
We paid to have our driveway professionally redone and expected professional workmanship and communication. Instead, we are left with noticeably different concrete coloring, staining, multiple cracks in a newly poured curb, and an overall finished product that does not reflect what we expected for the amount we paid.
We would not recommend Chicagoland Garage Builders based on our experience.

I hired Chicagoland Garage Builders to replace my detached garage. Permits were issued July 1, demolition happened July 23, and the project was not complete until Oct. 6. The company's website says most projects take four to eight weeks, depending on complexity. Mine was a simple project, and it took nearly 11 weeks from demolition to completion.
Communication was poor throughout. Even when I asked, I was never given a direct number for Ryan, the project manager, so I always had to call the main line. He was often out, I couldn't leave him a message, and he frequently did not return my calls. I also asked to speak with the owner, Duane Cook. I left at least four messages on different days asking him to call me, and he never did.
The concrete was poured Aug. 7, and I had to call repeatedly to get a timeline. I was told construction would start Sept. 3, then Sept. 10. Both dates passed with no call. Framing finally began Sept. 11, more than five weeks after the pour.
After the exterior was done, I was told I was behind on payments, even though no payment had been requested. I was also told the electrician would not be scheduled until I paid in full. However, my contract says payment is due when the carpentry is finished, and carpentry work was still unfinished at the time. I was also told I would not get the garage keys until I paid. I received the keys only after I emailed the company on Sept. 23 to explain that payment was not required in exchange for the keys.
Even on the last day, I had to chase down the keyless entry panel, which still had not been installed. After 20 minutes of calling with no answer, I was told that it would be installed that day. It was, and the garage passed final inspection Oct. 6.
I would not hire Chicagoland Garage Builders again, and I would not recommend them. If you hire them, ask for a direct contact number up front, get every date and payment milestone in writing, and keep a log of your calls.

I needed a custom garage to replace my 2 car garage, so a builder I respect recommend Chicagoland Garage Builder, he said they build garages the way I would. I called Chicagoland Garage Builders and Norm came out and listened to what I needed, a custom garage for my 2 cars and a golf simulator. I sat down with Norm and he listened and came up with a custom garage with 10’ ceilings, Hardie Bosrd siding and recessed electrical for drywall. They tore down my old garage, like a surgeon, removed the old concrete pad and framed for the new concrete pad in a few hours. The three gentlemen that built the garage were fantastic, they built, roofed and sided the garage in 3 days, they’re craftsmanship is excellent. Current Electric came out a few days later and were very professional and very good. The price is very competitive and perhaps cheaper than the cookie cutter garage builders. The communication with Chicagoland Garage Builders was easy. I highly recommend Chicagoland Gsrage Builder.

This company built me a garage. Soon after it was built it started smelling musty inside. Last year I had extensive leaking around the ridge of the roof. They blamed it on the solar panels but did not give me a clear proof it was the solar panels. I put in insulation in the interior walls and roof sheathing. The insulation is discolored I. Many places where there are leaks and it is getting wet. So it’s leaking not only from the roof but also the walls. They only give a one year warranty which they did not honor last year. Im having the same issue this year but in more places and they did not honor their warranty. They gave me a decent price. It took several months to complete building. They rushed through each step and they didn’t do the next step until months later. I don’t know how long the garage will last.
