I am the general contractor on a project in Roselle, IL. I saw all five star reviews on google and thought this company must be great... boy was I WRONG! So, I decided to leave an honest and very accurate review with real names and my experience with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing... Jess, their General Manager, sent a Licensed Plumber, John, who fell short of every expectation. John spent most of his time in his truck. At one point, while working, John stated he had never done this type of plumbing work before and was learning something new with installing a wall mounted toilet... not something you want to hear from your plumber! Again, this gave me little confidence in him and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.
Jess and Jim from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing also fell short of their promised expectations as well changing deadlines and continually apologizing about their plumber, John, stating he doesn't meet their standards. Additionally, they kept raising their price after starting work. I could see a few things, but the price started at $6500 and they raised it to over $15,500. Very incompetent. **REVISION: Only now are they presenting a structual issue, after I terminated them and wrote this review. The only issues raised by Benjamin Feanklin Plumbing were related to plumbing code violations of which I advised to mitigate all of them. No structural issues were brought to my attention or presented to my customer as I would have gladly had you speak with the Architect and Engineer (there were no issues as no modifications were made and it passed the inspection).**
Being a firefighter/paramedic, safety is always my top priority for me, all my contractors, and my customers! A simple phone call might have helped clear up any micommunication, but Jess and Jim never returned any of my calls or voice messages to rectify the situation or address my concerns/termination of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.
As a firefighter/paramedic, and someone who prides themselves in customer service, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing didn't for me! John, their licensed plumber, would advise he would be there at 8 AM, but not show up until 9 AM daily. Then, he would leave from 10 to 11 for parts, return from 11 to 1 to work, and conclude his day at 1 PM. Three hours of total work when Jess and Jim promised full 8 hour days (and possibly working afterhours to get the job done timely). John would leave his mess every day with PVC pipes spread all throughout the home and work areas. John even shoved some pipes and wrappers in between the wall studs and tried to cover it with insulation. I had to clean up his whole mess and discard everything or he would have left it for my customer. Very dissatisfied!
My customer was relieved when I terminated Benjamin Franklin Plumbing from the project. **REVISION: A new licensed plumber has already completed the rough in one day for a fraction of the cost... they also didn't require the removal of additional walls like John suggested from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing He basicallyasked us to open the walls of every room in the house! The new company sent a three man crew and did in one day what Benjamin Franklin Plumbing couldn't complete in two weeks.**
I DO NOT recommend this plumbing company. Save yourself the time, the money, and headaches!

John was here promptly as scheduled, which is always a good start. He was informative on what he was doing and why. He had some problems removing the old faucet, but alas, he got it done. That was actually why I wanted a plumber to do the install because I knew that might be a problem. Anyway I would not hesitate to have him be of service for my next plumbing job, hopefully that won't be too soon.

We had a great experience with John. He was punctual, attentive, and made sure he fully understood the situation before beginning the work. The installation of our power vent water heater was done beautifully, and everything was left clean and in great condition. It’s clear he takes pride in his work. Finally a company that has fair pricing and quality workers. We’re very grateful! Highly recommend.
