  I have never been so disappointed in a company. I would give zero stars if possible. I will never consider using Roto-Rooter again. The job was so mishandled from start to finish, they offered me $1000 in in-store credit. I refused. I quite literally would not let them back in my house for free. I simply do not trust them to do even a half-way decent job. Despite numerous opportunities to fix the problems, they repeatedly failed to do so. Do not hire this company. They were unqualified, unreliable, and unprofessional. I contacted Roto-Rooter in Champaign on 7/16 after a sink/washer overflow. A technician came 7/17 and spent THREE HOURS snaking the drain. He later admitted it was his first solo job. His supervisor eventually arrived and told us we needed to separate the washer and sink and bury the pipe. The quoted cost was over $7,000. On 7/21, a crew began the work without the supervisor who had sold us the job. They did not finish that day. On 7/22, after several calls, we were finally told around 5 p.m. that they would not be coming and would return Thursday. I had taken the entire day off work. They returned 7/23, again without the supervisor, and told us to let the concrete dry for 48 hours. We have cats and boarded off the room. We did not reenter until 7/25. On 7/25, we discovered that a pipe Roto-Rooter had installed was leaking badly and had apparently been leaking for approximately 48 hours, causing water damage. We called around 3 p.m. and were repeatedly given arrival windows. A technician finally arrived around 10:30 p.m. Much later than promised. This technician was APPALLED by the workmanship. The drain was above the concrete and uneven, the concrete was not level at all and had footprints in it, and the original sink was STILL backing up. He snaked the same drain they had supposedly worked on for three hours and fixed the original problem in about 15 minutes. He told us the $7,000 project had never been necessary and that the actual solution cost $229. We were then charged another $229 for the service. We had only been back in our brand-new home for less than two months after a devastating house fire the previous year. Roto-Rooter's work damaged our new paint, cracked our new concrete, and filled every room in the house with layers of dust because the work area was not properly sealed nor were vents closed. The technician who came that night told us it was one of the worst jobs he had seen. We tried to give Roto-Rooter every opportunity to make things right. Instead, they no-called/no-showed or failed to complete promised repairs FIVE OR SIX TIMES. Each missed appointment meant that I or a family member had to take off work or clear an entire day. After numerous calls, I was promised a call from a higher-level manager. Instead, the same supervisor called. We were later told the higher manager REFUSED to speak with me, with no explanation. The supervisor offered $1,000 in store credit. I declined. Why would I trust a company that had repeatedly failed to complete the work correctly to do another job in my home? He had no answer. On 8/4, they finally returned to attempt the repairs. THIS time, they used separate teams to seal the area and perform the work, but the sealing was again inadequate. Dust once again spread through the house. We were promised another sealing crew that evening and a repair crew the following day. The sealing crew never showed up. Once again, we received no meaningful response from management. Finally, on 8/7—three weeks after the original call—the job was completed correctly. The technician who finished it was apologetic and embarrassed by the work of his coworkers. The additional $229 we were promised would be refunded was not actually refunded until 8/13, after weeks of calls and reminders. It was finally processed immediately when I called one last time. Do not hire this company. They were unqualified, unreliable, and unprofessional. They repeatedly failed to show up, failed to communicate, failed to complete work correctly, and failed to follow through on promises.

  Technician was professional. Follow up showed the blockage was not cleared and we were told the tech would return. Later in the day or first thing the next day. As of 3:30 pm the next day we still have not had a tech come back out to clear the pipe. Not good when a whole household can’t use the toilets for more than 24 hours

  The technician was at my house within an hour of my call. They diagnosed a bigger issue with the sewerline, and they were back the next morning ready to fix it. I didn't have to handle anything as far as permits. The technicians were helpful and friendly. I highly recommend!
