When my water heater went out, I was desperate to get someone out quickly and I wanted a company with outstanding reviews. Well I found S and J Plumbing, and they were amazing! I was updated every step of the way about when the tech would arrive. My technician Brian was incredible - he was very knowledgable, experienced, polite, and extremely respectful, of myself and my home. He installed a new water heater quickly, efficiently, and with minimal disruption. A phenomenal experience from start to finish. Highest recommendation possible!

I don't know how this company got so many good reviews. I did not use their service because I couldn't get pass the diagnostic charge. Had water spots on ceiling and the guy looked all over but found nothing. Said he would have to do a diagnostic and cut thru the ceiling drywall and investigate. This would cost $1025!! This is on top of any repairs once they find the culprit. I asked three times the price thinking he must have it wrong or didn't understand. The next plumber said I charge $125 to go through drywall and investigate. Third guy said $150. So where does this s and j get the nerve to rip me off like that?? Stay away unless you know what's wrong and don't need a diagnosis. Update: I received a call from S & J, even though he explained a bit where that price comes from, which I dont agree with, they did make it up to me by ripping up my check for the call. The company made it right but just be careful to make sure you get a live person to talk to and ask questions about pricing before commiting and taking time off of work.

We contacted S&J Plumbing and scheduled to have a basement drain sealed today that was leaking sewage gases. They kept texting us all day saying how they’re behind until ultimately said they weren’t coming. I even called them during the day asking if they can’t make it to just let me know so I can schedule another plumber to help us as this is urgent. They kept saying they would come and never did. Complete waste of time, irresponsible, and awful company. On top of that, most of their communication is AI and you can’t even talk to a real human. Would not recommend to anyone and will not be contacting again. We were able to call Bee Quick Plumbing and they were super kind and are coming out immediately to help us. Try them instead!

I've used S&J for projects over the last 6 years and typically found them to be professional and provide quality work. While their servicemen are still very good, the company's focus (especially since the rebrand/new logo) has seemingly shifted to sales techniques and upselling for services. Their costs, once fair and reasonable, now are astronomically high. I just had them complete a toilet repair/install project that cost over 3x what it should have. This is my mistake for not researching prices, but I have since looked into the costs of other projects they have completed for me and found the price to be at least 2-3x what it would be through other companies. Lesson learned: I will be cancelling my membership and will reach out to other companies for any future plumbing needs. Edit in light of owner response: I appreciate the response and the company's offer of a nominal refund, but the fact remains that I was told the high cost was due to the product being "far superior" to the options available at any big-box home improvement store (without being shown the product) when in fact it's simply a $343 product available at Ferguson Home and similar to options available at other retailers that, with installation, somehow became a $2000+ project. This suggests a labor cost of roughly $1500 for two servicemen to complete a standard, non-emergency install of less than an hour--which is double what a specialist doctor charges for a level-5 visit. I was not given a cost breakdown on-sight (only a total cost). Once I attempted to receive an itemized invoice after the fact, I was told an itemized invoice was not possible because the company uses a "flat pricing" structure. Therefore I was unable to confirm cost allocation. While this pricing structure is advertised to the customer as more "open" and up-front, not providing details of product and labor cost allows the company to obfuscate costs for a customer that is not familiar with typical market costs for products and labor. You got me this time. While it was an expensive lesson to learn, I cannot possibly trust this company, their sales and upselling techniques, and their pricing structure going forward. Hopefully I won't have to utilize any warranty services. While I'm sure growth and expansion has been terrific for the company, apparently it has been achieved on the backs of their customers.

I called this company to replace a leaking hose spigot in my backyard. When I scheduled the appointment, they would not provide even a rough estimate over the phone. The plumber arrived on time and was professional. After looking at the repair and taking a couple of pictures with his iPad, he quoted me $1,600 to replace a part that he told me cost about $45 and estimated would take roughly two hours to complete. I explained that the quote was about three times higher than the other estimates I had received for the same job and asked if he could contact the office to see if there was any flexibility on the price. His response was simply that the quoted price was the price, although he did offer a payment plan. I declined the repair because I couldn't justify paying that much. He collected the $49 service call fee and left. This was a very straightforward repair that could have been quoted over the phone, or at the very least priced more reasonably. Instead, both my time and theirs were wasted. Looking back, I wish I had paid more attention to the many reviews mentioning how overpriced this company is before scheduling the appointment.
