They know how to take advantage of your situation to their benefit. Two layers of charges before they actually start work..
We were not told up-front of a $700 "exploration charge" to find the leak before repairs are started. If the leak is found in one hour or less, that money is gone and not applied to fixing the problem. So, a leaking valve on your bathroom shower/tub includes door fee of $75 + the exploration fee of $700, parts, labor and tax cost us $1,375.00 .. Friends all said we definitely over-paid for this leak fix service.
.. I am still feeling ill when I see other prices paid for the same job.
Ask about the "exploration fee" before you pay the door fee when making a reservation.

I had an excellent experience working with Brian! From the moment he arrived, he was friendly, courteous, and highly professional. He showed up promptly, took the time to explain the work that needed to be done, and made sure everything was completed correctly.
Brian did an amazing job and clearly takes pride in his work. His attention to detail, knowledge, and commitment to quality were evident throughout the entire process. He was also respectful of my home and left the work area clean when he finished.
It’s refreshing to find someone who provides both exceptional workmanship and outstanding customer service. I highly recommend Brian to anyone in need of a reliable, honest, and skilled plumber. I will definitely be calling him again for any future plumbing needs!

We discovered our primary and backup sump pumps had both failed (probably days earlier and we didn't hear the alarm). Rainwater was rising fast in the sump pit because it was raining buckets. We were really sweating it. Our sumps are in a finished carpeted basement.
We called several plumbers and no one was available to come out quickly to service us. In fact, with the heavy rain, plumbers were so busy there phones were busied out. We didn't have time to shop for a price.
S&J answered phone promptly and promised to come out to replace our pumps and save the day.
Chris (Our Hero) arrived shortly and after reviewing the situation and after discussing options, (understanding the emergency) went right to work. He was very friendly and answered all my dumb questions. He completed the job when he said he would and for the price we agreed on. No surprises. He was very neat. Worked with booties and tarps, cleaned up afterwards and took all the packing materials and old stuff away.
All in all, I'm so glad we connected with S&J. We are very pleased with S&J and they are now our "go to" plumbing firm.
Chris and Gershon where the plumbers who completed the project for us. Let me make it clear, they were fantastic. They were kind, cleaned up and walked us through everything step they completed. This project did take longer than we anticipated; however, that was 100% the fault of the office staff (Eli and Colleen specifically earned the badge of fault here in my opinion) their lack of communication was astounding and they were so quick to try to blame the issues on Chris himself rather than admitting to their own errors.
Eli, who is the customer service manager, schedule to call us between 12-3 one day (because we were waiting for plumbers who literally never were scheduled apparently despite us calling and scheduling with the office staff) and he managed to miss this time period. I called at 310 and got faced with Colleen who is quick to be snippy and say she listened to the recorded messages when it's so clear she never did (two separate times we called to schedule and on those dates no one ever came out)
If you want prompt service, easy scheduling and more importantly, a project to be completed by your intended deadline, absolutely not the place to go. But if you're looking for skilled, courteous plumbers who completed a good job, Chris and Gershon were great.
They are also on the higher end of costs, but we managed to get their 11k bill down to 3k with some YouTube and some high hopes (and yes it all worked out)
For context on services, we had water and drain lines brought from the basement to the first floor master bathroom to a shower and double vanity (our toilet lines were already connected).
**UPDATE: Stars were added back on because of the excellent customer care and follow up to make sure this kind of mistake does not happen again.
First I want to say everyone I talked to was professional and courteous. Unfortunately I can't recommend S&J Plumbing - we woke up to water in our mechanical room (which houses our water heater, house filter and other piping and plumbing). We called out S&J after we cleaned up the water and thought we stopped the leak. The tech came out and after taking a quick look stated that our water heater was broken and it would be $5,000 for a new one (with install). The leak was actually from our foundation and the water heater shut off because it sensed water on the floor. There was nothing wrong with our water heater. If we did not figure this out (ourselves by the way) we would have paid $5,000 for absolutely no reason what-so-ever. We had put down a $1,500 deposit for the new water heater which I did get back (all of it was refunded) when they realized it was a complete misdiagnosis. Customer care followed up and made it right.
