Noticed a potential gas leak last night. Called them and they had a person there the next day. Andrew investigated thoroughly on the outside and in the crawl space and made sure there was no leak. He also did a very good job explaining how all the connections worked. Very satisfied.
Frequently Asked Questions About Carter Comfort Systems
My energy costs are high. Will a new system reduce my costs?
A new heating and air conditioning system can substantially lower your energy expenses. Today's equipment operates much more efficiently thanks to technological improvements and higher minimum efficiency standards. Depending on the efficiency level you choose, you could save between 25% to 60% on heating and cooling costs. With energy prices continuing to rise, investing in high-efficiency equipment makes financial sense. We provide complimentary in-home consultations where our qualified technicians will help you choose a system that reduces your energy bills, improves comfort, and fits your financial situation.
Do you offer financing?
We do offer various financing options to meet different customer needs. Our financing plans feature competitive rates, and the application process is simple and efficient. We would be happy to review your specific requirements and help you find a financing solution that aligns with your budget. Please reach out to us for additional details.
Do I run any risk by accepting the lowest bid?
Accepting the lowest bid can present significant risks. When a bid is considerably lower than others, it may indicate the use of inferior products, poor installation quality, or the exclusion of necessary costs such as permits or required inspections. At Carter Comfort Systems, we manage every aspect of the installation process, allowing you to simply enjoy the improved comfort and energy efficiency of your new system without concerns.
Should I turn off my furnace before I go on vacation to save energy?
For brief vacations, it's more advisable to adjust your thermostat settings rather than completely shutting off your HVAC system. During summer months with air conditioning, setting the temperature to approximately 85 degrees is recommended. In winter, maintaining a temperature of around 60 degrees is appropriate for trips lasting a few days. These temperature settings help protect indoor plants and prevent pipes from freezing and rupturing during cold weather periods.
Why are furnaces and air conditioners so noisy?
Older heating and cooling systems typically generate more noise due to the less sophisticated materials used in their construction. Contemporary systems, particularly those manufactured by Trane, incorporate higher-grade components and noise-reduction technologies. For example, Trane units feature sound insulation on the compressor and a protective weather guard top. These design elements not only reduce operational noise but also contribute to system longevity by preventing debris from entering critical components.
What are the benefits of a programmable thermostat?
Programmable thermostats provide greater control over your home's temperature management. You can program the system to automatically adjust temperatures according to your daily schedule, reducing energy consumption when you're absent and ensuring comfort when you return. This precise temperature control can result in considerable energy savings, potentially reducing heating expenses by up to 15% during winter and cooling costs by 10% in summer months.
Would a new AC unit help me lower my costs during the summer?
Installing a new air conditioning unit can effectively reduce your summer cooling expenses, particularly if your current system is aging. For example, a 15-year-old unit might have a SEER rating as low as 6. Upgrading to a new, energy-efficient Trane air conditioner could save you approximately $600 per summer on a standard 4-ton unit. These savings are achievable while maintaining cooler indoor temperatures compared to the typical energy-conservation setting of 78 degrees.
Is a bigger furnace or air conditioner better?
Despite common misconceptions, larger HVAC systems aren't necessarily better. The key to maximizing comfort, reliability, and efficiency is selecting the appropriate size for your specific requirements. An oversized system can actually result in decreased comfort levels, reduced reliability, and lower efficiency compared to a properly sized unit. We offer various system options, and our experienced technicians can determine the ideal size based on your home characteristics and lifestyle needs.
How big should my system be?
The correct sizing of your HVAC system is essential for optimal performance. An oversized system may experience short cycling, leading to increased energy usage, premature equipment failure, and inconsistent comfort. Conversely, an undersized system might struggle to maintain desired temperatures. Since each home has unique characteristics, our specialists perform detailed calculations to ensure precise system sizing. We encourage you to schedule a free analysis to determine the most appropriate system size for your specific home.
Why is important for me to continue my service agreement?
Continuing your service agreement provides multiple advantages. It helps reduce utility costs, extend equipment life, minimize repair needs, and improve system performance. Additionally, you receive a 15% discount on repairs, priority customer status, inflation protection, round-the-clock emergency service, and no overtime charges. Regular maintenance through a service agreement ensures your HVAC system functions at maximum efficiency, delivering consistent comfort and long-term cost benefits.
