I hired bigbee construction for my kitchen remodel this past winter. While the wait time was longer than I hoped, they were up front about it and were very prompt when I asked for updates. When they arrived to start the project, they arrived when expected and communication was good throughout the project. We had them take out a wall that was separating the kitchen from the dining room and put back up the drywall and texture it. They also added lighting. They overall did a great job. The people they hire are very nice and respectful. The electrician they subcontracted with did a clean job and the lighting turned out better than we expected. The only real "problem" I had was with the drywall company. They left a bit of a mess in the house, but it was nothing that we couldn't clean up and really nothing to complain too badly with. Besides for the cleanup, we were happy with the job that they did. You can't really tell that the wall was taken out, which is what we were looking for. Overall, I would hire bigbee again and will recommend them in the future. Keep up the good work Taylor and Jordan!

We hired this company in January, and the work began at the end of April, which we were completely fine with. After the initial work was completed, we had to ask them to return in May to address several workmanship issues and incomplete items (a couple photos attached for reference). It’s important to note that throughout the process, we remained respectful and appreciative of the work they had done. During our third meeting, while reviewing the items that still needed to be corrected, we specifically told them that we appreciated their hard work and did not want our requests for repairs to discourage them in any way. We simply wanted the project completed correctly. Fast forward to June, and we were still trying to get the remaining items finished. There were multiple delays throughout the project. Some were due to scheduling on their end, while others were due to shipping delays for a front door that my wife ordered later than originally planned. We never complained about any of these delays and remained patient throughout the process. During that time, we discovered a leak coming from the area where the newly installed front door had been installed. When Jordan arrived to inspect the leak, his attitude toward us changed significantly. After the cause had been determined, he told my wife that he was frustrated with how many times he had to come back to the property. He also stated that since the leak was not related to their work, this particular visit was not their responsibility. As homeowners, we had no way of knowing the cause of the leak before reporting it, which is exactly why we contacted them. Although it was determined that the leak was not related to the door installation, the issue for us was not who was ultimately responsible for the leak—it was the way we were spoken to regarding a concern that reasonably appeared to be connected to recently completed work. In fact, both my wife and I agreed with Jordan several times that the leak appeared to be caused by something other than the door installation. We were not arguing with his assessment or trying to place blame where it didn’t belong. However, despite us acknowledging that the leak was likely unrelated to their work, his frustration and irritation seemed to continue escalating throughout the conversation. After overhearing the conversation, I joined them, waited until he was done having a conversation with my wife for about a minute or two (which he later described as me “coming in hot”), and simply said, “I heard you mention to my wife that you’re frustrated about having to come back here so many times. Just to be clear, none of the previous visits were our fault.” Jordan also described the email my wife sent reporting the leak as “being on his ass.” The email itself was polite, professional, and simply notified them of the issue. There was nothing aggressive or unreasonable about it. The discussion then shifted to the numerous delays, corrections, and inconveniences that we had dealt with throughout the project without expressing the same level of frustration toward them. We pointed out that while we had remained patient through scheduling delays, workmanship corrections, and unfinished items, we had never spoken to them the way we were being spoken to.. Ultimately, I ended up firing them, and we paid them for the work they completed while arranging for someone else to finish the remaining items. Based on other reviews, it appears many customers have had positive experiences with this company. Unfortunately, our experience was very different. The quality concerns themselves could have been resolved, but the unwillingness to accept feedback, address mistakes professionally, and maintain respectful communication when problems arose in the end was what ultimately left us shocked. But according to Jordan if it were any other contractor they would have told us “to kick rocks”. We’ve been through plenty and have never been treated like this, we highly recommend recording all conversations and interactions so accountability can be taken.

We hired Big & Steinke to build a deck connecting to our new above ground pool. They gave us a very fair price based on the quality of the workmanship and end result. They delivered the estimate when promised and they started the project when promised. We have been frustrated in the past with Contractors that are hard to reach or are unresponsive. We were always able to easily get in touch with Big & Steinke throughout the entire process to answer any questions or address any of our concerns. We would definitely use Big & Steinke again for any future projects and we highly recommend them to anyone that may be considering them for their own project.
