  No integrity or communication and follow-up from the Cedar Rapids office. Horrible. When you say you'll do something you do it, or communicate why. Installer made a minor oversight and forgot to install heat in my new HVAC unit. Then lied and said my wife told him we didn't have it or need it. False. Then I was told he would call 3x and he never did call. I had to keep calling back to finally get heat installed. Then it failed city inspection. Then CR office manager said he'd take care of it on Monday and never confirmed it was complete. I had to call again and he said he would send picture to the inspector to close the permit. Of course he never followed through. Then the Division Manager called me and I explained what happened and never followed through either with the inspector to get the permit closed. I ended up taking pictures myself and closing the permit myself. So four levels of "managers" don't communicate or follow through. Don't recommend.

  So far, the best Technician I have worked with. Bode is so knowledgeable and highly professional in his approach to resolving problems. It is too obvious that he is a results-oriented and highly conscientious employee of his company, Schaal cooling/heating/plumbing. I'm convinced beyond every doubt that he is surely an asset to this company. He deserves some tangible motivation for representing this company so well with a heart of service and integrity. I'm completely satisfied with the timely manner in which he rectified my AC/Furnace problems. I am indeed a very happy camper!

  Schaal Y’al saved July 4th for us. July 3 starts with our sewer backup. We had 3 inches of rain that night but parts of the metro got 10 inches. I called 12 plumbers and Schaal was first to call us back. They got me scheduled and Matthew arrived at 10am. He was a nice fella that worked efficiently. He assessed gave me the bid and proceeded to clear the sewer line. For no charge he ran a scope of the sewer line to assess how to prevent future back ups. Also he referred a disinfectant company to properly clean the area affected. Thanks Team Schaal. Rob-DesMoines native.

  We cannot recommend Jason enough! After another company told us we needed to replace our entire AC unit with a very expensive system, we decided to get a second opinion. We are so glad we did. Jason spent nearly three hours thoroughly diagnosing the problem instead of jumping to the most expensive solution. When he reached a point where he wanted another set of eyes on it, he quickly had someone else come out to help. Rather than guessing, he took the time to make sure the diagnosis was correct. It turned out the issue was completely different than what we had originally been told, and the repair ended up costing a fraction of what we were expecting. His honesty, persistence, and commitment to finding the actual problem saved us thousands of dollars. Thanks to Jason, our AC is working again just in time for the 90-degree weather. It’s rare to find someone who is this knowledgeable, trustworthy, and dedicated to doing the job right. If you’re debating whether to get a second opinion, do it and call Jason. We’re incredibly grateful for his help!

  We've had a couple weekend emergency repairs over the last two years and Schaal beat the emergency call costs of other companies by $50-$75. Communication is phenomenal. They send pictures and little snippets of information about each tech coming out to your home and give you a heads up on when they are headed your way. The technicians are knowledgeable, informative, and super patient with our questions, no matter how dumb the questions were. They were super polite and kept us informed of their progress. After limping our AC and furnace along for the last 5 years, a frion leak and inducer motor squeal did us in. We, again, checked with multiple companies for estimates. While Schaal wasn't the cheapest (pretty darn close though), they worked hard for our business and went out of their way to provide us with financing options that met our budget. They also were gracious enough to provide us with a 10 year parts and warranty promo that was set to expire at the end of the month. The technicians who did the install went out of their way to walk the long way around our house (instead of taking the shortcut from the patio to the furnace room) to avoid tracking dirty shoes inside. ❤️ Again, throughout the process they kept us informed and went through the basics of regular maintenance before they left. Our old AC was the loudest on the block causing us not to be able to enjoy our patio, and the humming inside the house hurt the ears. Now, we can barely hear it running and that alone is worth every penny we spent. The AC works so well now that we are freezing (in all parts of the house!!) using our old temperature setting! We've had our unit for a couple weeks now with no issues. There weren't any other companies willing/able to offer us what Schaal did and we are extremely grateful. We would highly recommend Schaal and we will continue to do business with them in the future.
