The did a great job in replacing a rotten beam on my deck, but I can't give them 5 stars since they damaged the underdeck gutter while removing the old beam and then just left the damaged gutter on the ground and left me with an unfinished job. When I asked the crew if they were going to reinstall the gutter, they told me that they didn't have the expertise to do it. The company's position was that since replacing a gutter was not part of the quote they were not obligated to repair/replace it. I would expect that if a company damages something during a repair that they would at least make an attempt to make it right. Instead I had to find a different contractor to do the work that Barefoot should have done at a significant additional expense. While happy with the work they did, I was very disappointed in their willingness to address an issue they created.

Our experience with Barefoot Decking was beyond positive! Jeremy, Danny, Conrad, Adam, Chase, Jake, and Christian were beside us the entire way. They answered our questions and consulted with us through the whole process. Chase, Jake and Christian worked so hard building a beautiful deck! Chase stayed late to make sure the deck was completed on time. They all went beyond expectations! We feel like part of the Barefoot Decking family! Thank you for fulfilling our dreams of a beautiful, sturdy deck!

The Barefoot Decks team was incredible to work with and I recommend them to all customers. They did an excellent job coming into our job that hadn't been completed by an earlier contractor and had failed inspection. They were able to get the work done, fix the inspection issues, and navigated the permit process like true pros. Chase and crew were on time and worked on schedule while doing quality work. David communicated regularly on project status and kept it all to the price and timeline originally proposed. Barefoot Decks is the place to go if you want to work with the seasoned pros!

I’m not someone who writes reviews. But after what Barefoot Deck delivered at my home in Marietta, I felt like I owed it to every homeowner in the area who’s sitting on that project, paralyzed by the fear of picking the wrong contractor. This is that review. The Planning When I first reached out to Barefoot, I had a vision and a stack of competing quotes I didn’t fully understand. What happened next genuinely surprised me: the owner (David) and Arley (sales/design) sat down with me and helped me evaluate all of it — including their own quote. They walked me through what to look for, where corners get quietly cut in a build like this, and what questions separate a serious contractor from someone just trying to close a deal. By the time that conversation was over, I wasn’t just leaning toward Barefoot — I trusted them. That kind of transparent, zero-pressure approach is almost unheard of in this industry, and it set the tone for everything that followed. The Design Process I came in knowing I wanted a covered porch with a fireplace and an outdoor cooking setup around my BGEgg. What I got was a design that took those inputs and turned them into something I genuinely couldn’t have imagined on my own. The collaboration was real. They pushed back when something wouldn’t structurally work (Danny was great on this). They proposed solutions I hadn’t considered. They asked the right questions about how the space would actually be lived in — not just what it would look like on paper. That distinction matters more than most people realize when you’re about to spend that much money. Every phase of the build was completed before the next began. The crew showed up when they said they would. The site stayed clean. Progress was visible and intentional every single day. The staircase detail alone is worth calling out — mitered corners, consistent spacing on the black iron balusters, white post caps that are perfectly level. This isn’t a contractor who cut corners and hoped you wouldn’t notice. This is a team that cared about every inch. This isn’t a generic deck railing with a shelf bolted on. This is a fully custom, purpose-built deck and bar that wraps the perimeter of the open deck and integrates the Big Green Egg into the flow — positioned perfectly for the cook, with bar seating alongside so guests can sit, drink, and watch the show. The owner designed this himself and walked me thru how he tested the structural integrity of it. I’ll be honest, I knew the fireplace was going to be good. I didn’t know it was going to be this. The stonework runs floor-to-ceiling and fills the entire wall. The floating wood mantel was designed in house by them to match. The TV mount is integrated above it at the perfect viewing angle. And then you look up — exposed beam structure, tongue-and-groove ceiling white washed, LED lighting tracing the perimeter, and the ceiling fan anchoring the center - I live out here. This isn’t a porch. This is a room. This is the room my family ends up in every evening. Every person who set foot on my property — from project management to the build crew — was respectful, professional, and easy to work with. Genuinely good people who communicated proactively, answered questions without making me feel like a nuisance, and treated my property like it mattered to them personally. In the world of home improvement, where contractor horror stories are basically a genre, this team was the exception at every level. The Bottom Line If you’re in the Atlanta area and you’re sitting on an outdoor living project — a deck, a porch, a fireplace, the whole thing — do yourself a favor and start with Barefoot. Call them. Get the quote. Have the conversation. You’ll know immediately why I’m writing 1,000 words about a contractor at 10pm on a Sunday. Thanks to Arley, David, Danny, Chase and all the specialists. It was awesome.
