Excellent job by Adam, Eric and the team. They replaced the chimney chase cover and shroud on my very large wood-burning fireplace. The original one was not installed correctly and was wearing out. They recommended a chemical waterproofing of the exterior stone face too. Free estimate with everything spelled out. Great communication throughout the process. On the day of the job, everything was completed with materials better than original. When they finished they did a good clean-up. Followup from the owner afterward. I highly recommend them for your chimney repair or any other construction project.

We had our chimney updated from wood to HardiePlank, and we're very happy with the results. Adam was great to work with—his communication was excellent throughout the entire process, keeping us informed every step of the way. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and did a quality job. The finished project looks fantastic, and the whole experience was smooth from start to finish. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, professional work.

Would give them 10 stars if I could! Truly could not have made the process or experience better. Extremely easy to schedule (important for me as a working mom!) & extremely communicative (sent me pics! Checked in before coming to the house! Followed up a week after the work was done!) . They installed a chimney cap for us and it looks fantastic. They also helped me with a minor leak in our flue that no one else wanted to fix. could not have been happier with Millie & will be recommending to friends/neighbors. I should mention that I have very high expectations in general for all contractors I work with and the whole team exceeded my expectations!

We recently had our bathroom remodeled by this company, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. From the first consultation with Adam and his team to the final walkthrough, they were professional, honest, and paid close attention to every detail.
The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. Antonio, Jesus, and Gabriel did everything with care, the job site was kept clean, and they communicated with us throughout the project so we always knew what to expect. They finished on time, stayed true to their estimate, and the finished bathroom looks even better than we imagined.
It’s refreshing to work with a small business that truly takes pride in its work and treats customers with respect. If you’re looking for a reliable contractor who delivers high-quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service, I highly recommend them. We wouldn’t hesitate to use them again for future remodeling projects.
Frequently Asked Questions About Millie Monroe Construction & Chimney
How often should I have my chimney inspected?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends annual chimney inspections for all homeowners. These yearly inspections allow us to detect creosote accumulation, damaged flue liners, moisture issues, animal nests, and other potential hazards before they turn into expensive repairs. Even if your fireplace sees minimal use, scheduled inspections ensure your chimney stays safe and maintains its structural integrity.
What is included in your 18-point chimney & fireplace safety inspection?
Our thorough 18-point chimney & fireplace safety inspection assesses the condition, safety, and functionality of your entire fireplace and chimney system. Beyond examining the accessible components of your fireplace and chimney, we utilize camera scope technology to inspect the flue interior, revealing hidden cracks, degradation, blockages, or other problems that can't be detected through standard visual examination.
During your inspection, we evaluate the: firebox, damper, smoke chamber, flue liner (camera scoped), chimney crown, chimney cap, masonry and mortar joints, flashing, chase cover (when applicable), exterior chimney structure, signs of water intrusion, creosote buildup, draft and ventilation, hearth and fireplace surround, overall safety and system performance. Following the inspection, we'll discuss our findings with you, address any areas of concern, and offer recommendations for maintenance or repairs to maintain safe and efficient fireplace operation.
How often should my chimney be cleaned?
We suggest scheduling chimney inspections at least annually, ideally before the heating season begins. This helps guarantee your chimney is clean and safe for use. If your fireplace gets frequent use, additional inspections during the year may be necessary. Even with infrequent fireplace use, routine chimney cleaning and inspections identify hidden problems, eliminate creosote accumulation, and enhance airflow. Maintaining a consistent schedule not only improves home safety but also prolongs your chimney's service life.
If I don't have a wood-burning fireplace, do I still need to have it cleaned and inspected annually?
Yes, annual inspections remain important even with gas fireplaces, direct vent fireplaces, or gas log systems to confirm your fireplace functions safely and efficiently. As time passes, venting systems can experience blockages, moisture problems, corrosion, animal intrusion, or component deterioration that isn't apparent during regular operation. During your yearly inspection, we'll assess the condition of your fireplace, venting system, and critical safety features, providing recommendations for any needed cleaning or maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
How much does chimney cleaning cost?
Homeowners should recognize that unusually low pricing often indicates insufficient service quality, and there are significant risks associated with unqualified chimney and fireplace inspection and cleaning services. Proper and dependable chimney cleanings are specialized services that require trained professionals with appropriate expertise. While exact pricing varies, chimney cleaning performed by a reputable company typically ranges from $250 to $450. Factors including the level of cleaning required, company size, professional experience, and technician training and credentials can influence the final cost within this range. The cost of chimney cleaning depends on multiple factors, including chimney height, accessibility, system type, and creosote accumulation levels. We offer transparent, upfront pricing so homeowners understand all costs before any work begins.
What is creosote, and why is it dangerous?
Creosote is a highly flammable byproduct that accumulates inside your chimney during wood combustion. Without proper maintenance, creosote deposits build up on the flue walls and can catch fire when exposed to elevated temperatures, potentially causing a hazardous chimney fire. Beyond increasing fire danger, heavy creosote buildup can limit airflow and force smoke back into your living space. Regular chimney cleaning is the most effective method to eliminate creosote deposits and maintain proper fireplace function.
Do you provide design assistance for home renovations?
Yes, we do. Whether you've already developed a detailed plan or you're just starting to consider possibilities, we'll assist you throughout the design process. We'll review layout alternatives, functionality requirements, material choices, finishes, color schemes, and overall project objectives while sharing recommendations drawn from our professional experience. Our objective is to develop spaces that are both attractive and functional while expressing your individual preferences.
What adds the most value to home renovations?
Kitchen and bathroom renovations generally provide the highest return on investment, along with updated flooring, fresh paint, energy-efficient windows and doors, finished basements, outdoor living areas, and enhanced curb appeal. The most valuable renovations are those that improve both your home's usability and long-term market value. During your consultation, we'll help you identify improvements that match your objectives, budget, and your home's specific requirements.
What happens if I want to make changes to my home renovation after construction has started?
Occasionally, homeowners request modifications after a renovation project has begun. If you choose to add work, alter materials, revise the design, or request extra features, we'll review the requested modifications with you before proceeding with any additional work. We then create a comprehensive change order that clearly specifies the updated scope of work, cost adjustments, and any effect on the completion schedule. After you review and sign the change order, we'll integrate the changes into your project. This approach maintains complete transparency, prevents confusion, and keeps your renovation well-organized and progressing smoothly.
Do you remodel older homes?
Yes. Older homes frequently need extra planning because of outdated electrical systems, plumbing, framing techniques, or structural issues. We thoroughly assess each home prior to starting construction and suggest solutions that maintain the home's distinctive character while updating it to current safety requirements.

What areas do you serve?
Millie Monroe Construction & Chimney proudly serves homeowners throughout Atlanta and Metro Atlanta, including Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Duluth, Johns Creek, Suwanee, Buford, Cumming, Alpharetta, Roswell, Marietta, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven, Decatur, Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Lawrenceville, and many other surrounding communities.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, Millie Monroe Construction & Chimney is fully licensed and insured for the services we provide. We believe homeowners should have confidence knowing they're working with a professional contractor who prioritizes safety, quality workmanship, and compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
Do you provide free estimates?
We provide free consultations and detailed estimates for our home renovations. During your appointment, we'll discuss your goals, inspect the project area, answer your questions, and provide recommendations based on your home's needs. Every proposal is prepared with transparency, so you understand exactly what is included before making a decision. However, for visual chimney inspections that require roof access to examine your chimney, we do require a $145 inspection fee that will be applied towards your repairs.
How far in advance should I schedule my project?
Scheduling varies depending on the season and the type of work being performed. Chimney inspections and cleanings are in high demand during the fall and winter months, while remodeling and outdoor living projects often book several weeks or often time months in advance. We recommend contacting us as early as possible, especially if you're planning work around holidays, entertaining, or seasonal weather.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept several convenient payment methods for our services. We accept payments in the form of check, Zelle, cash, wire transfers and credit cards (credit cards have a 3.5% convenience fee). Payment schedules are outlined in your proposal before work begins so you'll always know when payments are due. If you have questions about payment options, our team will be happy to discuss them with you during the proposal process.
Do you offer financing?
While we do not currently provide in-house financing, we are happy to discuss available third-party financing options and can often recommend lenders or programs that may help homeowners complete their projects.
Can you repair storm or weather-related damage?
Yes. If your chimney, fireplace, deck, or other exterior structures have been damaged by severe weather, our team can perform a thorough inspection, identify the extent of the damage, and recommend the most effective repair solutions. We provide detailed assessments and quality repair services to restore the safety, functionality, and appearance of your property.
What happens after my project is complete?
Once completed, we'll perform a final walkthrough (or punch list) with you to review the completed work, answer any remaining questions, and ensure everything meets your expectations. We'll also provide any applicable warranty information, maintenance recommendations, and guidance for caring for your new renovation, chimney, fireplace, or outdoor living space. Our relationship doesn't end when the project is complete, we're here whenever you need us in the future.
Do you offer warranties on your work?
We stand behind the quality of our workmanship and are committed to delivering lasting results. Specific warranty coverage may vary depending on the type of work performed and the manufacturer's warranty on installed products. We'll review applicable workmanship and product warranties with you before your project begins so you understand exactly what's covered.
Can you help with future maintenance after my renovation or chimney project?
Absolutely. Many home improvement projects benefit from ongoing maintenance to protect your investment. Whether it's annual chimney inspections, chimney sweeping, waterproofing, fireplace servicing, deck maintenance, or repairs as your home ages, we're here to help keep your home safe, functional, and looking its best for years to come.
Why should homeowners choose one company for both chimney work and home renovations?
Many chimney issues affect other parts of the home, including roofing, framing, siding, masonry, and interior finishes. As a licensed construction and chimney contractor, Millie Monroe Construction & Chimney can identify the root cause of a problem and complete both the chimney repairs and any necessary home repairs without coordinating multiple contractors. This saves homeowners time, reduces costs, and helps ensure the work is completed correctly.
I was referred to you, but I'm outside your normal service area. Do you ever take on projects outside of Metro Atlanta?
Yes, depending on the project. While we primarily serve homeowners throughout Atlanta and Metro Atlanta, we may accept projects outside our standard service area based on the size and scope of the work, our current schedule, and whether we're able to coordinate multiple projects or service calls in the same area, particularly for chimney and fireplace services. If we're unable to accommodate your project, we're happy to recommend a trusted contractor or chimney professional whenever possible. If you've been referred to us, don't hesitate to reach out as we're always happy to discuss your project.

How do I schedule a chimney inspection or home renovation consultation?

Whether you need a chimney inspection, fireplace repair, kitchen remodel, bathroom renovation, deck, structural repair, or complete home transformation, our team will help you bring your vision to life.
What happens if I want to make changes to my project after construction has started?
At times we do have instances where homeowners request adjustments after a renovation project is underway. If you decide to add work, change materials, modify the design, or request additional features, we'll discuss the requested changes with you before any additional work begins. We then prepare a detailed change order that clearly outlines the revised scope of work, adjustments to the project cost, and any impact on the timeline schedule. Once you review and approve the change order in writing, we'll incorporate the changes into your project. This process ensures complete transparency, helps prevent misunderstandings, and keeps your renovation organized and on track.
Do you handle small home repairs or handyman work?
Our primary focus is on chimney and fireplace services, residential remodeling, structural repairs, decks, and larger home improvement projects. We do not typically perform general handyman services or small maintenance repairs as standalone jobs. However, if we're already completing a project at your home, we're often happy to assist with additional small repairs or punch-list items when time and scheduling allow. If your project involves licensed construction work, a chimney or fireplace system, or a larger renovation, we'd be happy to discuss how we can help.
